Awesome Hotel - Dissapointing and overpriced rooms

Pros: Character of lobby outstanding. Staff very cheerful and polite.
Cons: RENOVATE and price accordingly. Gouging for a busy weekend is VERY POOR FORM.
Booked what was supposed to be “deluxe” accommodations for a very high price. Was not happy with room at check in and the staff was able to upgrade me although again at a premium. Because I did not want to make a large deal with my wife on our special weekend - I accepted and took what was a very poor smoke smelling “suite” with outdated and threadbare carpets - and a bathroom that was last updated in 1980. Club accommodation was not worth the Keuirg coffee and old pastry. I would NOT stay here again - very unhappy given I was born in Memphis and could not wait to stay and show my wife the historic hotel. Ridiculous price. I have stayed in five star Ritz Carltons for half this rate.

No king bed room available when we arrived.

Disappointed with our stay this past weekend. Checked in and they told me that the king bed room I booked for was not available. They gave us a queen bed room which was fine however when we put all our things in our room we noticed it was right next to the elevator...and by that stage I was ready to just head to bed. It was my wife and I's first time to get away together all year. Whilst the hotel is wonderful otherwise this was very disappointing.

Lovely historic hotel. Beautiful and comfortable. The lobby has a number of shops and restaurants. The ducks are great fun. Enjoyed this stay with my daughter.

Cluster muck check in

Crowded, loud & could barely hear the staff at check in@ 4:45pm. The very large short bald man yelled at us as we were waiting on the elevator . He wanted us to step back into the crowd away from the doors. ....SO rude.

Lovely pre-Christmas getaway

We had a lovely visit from East Tennessee. Enjoyed the duck march, tree lighting at The Peabody and our evening on Beale Street.

This hotel has a lot of charm and character. I would recommend staying here at least one night to experience the history it offers

Invisible, biting insects.

Its really unfortunate because I would have given much higher marks for the hotel if it weren't for all of the bug bites that I received. The classic feel to the hotel, as well as the staff and location, all suffer because of the experience that I had in room #462. There were little, invisible bugs that bit my legs to pieces as I worked at the desk in the room. The staff took care of my stay as a result, but the stay was ruined for me and I packed up and left before my scheduled check out. I would like to recommend the hotel but simply cannot as a result of the (possible bedbug) bites that I received.
