Very nice hotel right in the middle of Montreal

Pros: The location of the hotel in the middle of downtown Montreal and on top the subterranean city is very useful (specially in winter).
Location: Downtown Montreal is very lively and near to the old town which is worth visiting
The hotel is worth its stars. The room, although a bit awkwardly organised was very pleasant and clean. The staff (as regular Canadians) very helpful and courteous. A note for those in the gold floors do not leave anything outside your room (ex. shoes to shine) for they will call you and ask you to keep them in side the room (Hotel policy I suppose). In one word a very pleasant experience.

Great Stay

Lobby was busy when we first arrived. It was a Saturday afternoon so expected. The staff greeted us and handed out bottles of water while we waited. Called ahead and Rachel let us know our room was ready and we could check in early as we just driven straight from Halifax N.S. wonderful experience staff helped us get around the city would love to come back for a longer stay

Lovely staff. Adjusted our accommodations on the spot to better suit our needs. Pool is lovely, enjoyed by our 6yr old very much.

Tired. Desperately needing renovation

Not your typical Fairmont. This hotel needs to be renovated. The carpets are threadbare. The lighting is very poor. At the time of our visit they were renovating one of their restaurants so maybe that will help - but it didn't help us. Rooms are very small.

Trendy renovation misses the mark

I had high expectations for the newly renovated hotel, but left feeling there are much nicer places to stay. The rooms are ridiculously small and the decor missed the desired retro mark. Was very surprised that most of the machines in the fitness centre had no televisions and were in fact facing away from the screen on the wall. It was poorly thought out. My final disappointment came when we were charged to leave our bags with the bellman. I usually expect to tip $2 per bag, but find the forced charge bizarre. With checkout times so early, bag storage should always be a courtesy for guests. It isn't a bad hotel, and the location is great of traveling by train, but there are much more interesting and comfortable hotels to stay at.

Regarding the $2 fee per bag for storage, this is a policy part of our union contract therefore our Bell captain applies this procedures which is also applied by several hotels in Montreal. Pleasant but expensive

We had been looking forward to treating ourselves at this renowned Fairmont hotel, famous for John and Yoko’s stay. It was spotlessly clean and the room was comfortable. The view was of the roof and the other walls of the building. We were offered an upgrade of a room with a nicer view, and breakfast- for $100 a night extra! We declined. We had a special deal through Expedia, but it was still expensive. Two nights cost over $900 (parking was $35 a night) We have paid far less for much more. The bottle of water in our room would have cost $9! We didn’t even dare breathe on the mini bar, as even moving anything would have cost us! There was Nespresso machine with exactly one pod each. All in all, we felt nickel and dimed, when we were already paying a lot. Compared to previous stays in the Westin, the Marriott or the Hyatt, we could not call this value for money. The staff were courteous but the hotel was lacking in charm. We were disappointed.

Amazing as always. The hotel has been renovated beautifully and is within walking distance of shopping, museums, and restaurants. Room service is excellent.
