Convenient location, bad heating system, too much

Posted Jan 18, 2018
Pros: The lobby and restaurant downstairs are fine.
Cons: Bathrooms must be improved. Must have WIFI to the rooms.
Location: I was on business, so it was convenient to walk to the client.
I booked it because it was close to my client and the description on your website was very good. Also it said that there was free WIFI, but did not say that that only worked in the lobby area!

Central location, spacious room at a great price

Posted Jan 6, 2018
Pros: Spacious room, central location, great on the budget
Cons: The hallway are a bit dated and could use an update.
Location: Great location, a few minutes walk from the Parliament Hill and many other tourist attractions and restaurants.
The hotel is located on the left side of Albert Street (one way). Just before a convenient hotel loading zone at the front, there's a driveway through the building to the parking lot also accessible from Slater Street. The lobby area is clean and has a 80's commercial building vibe. Check in was speedy and efficient. I'm most impressed by the spacious (2 queen beds) room. Very comfy. Not that it matters much, but this room didn't have a view... except into some cubicles of a near by office building. If staying there during the week, it's safer to keep the blinds drawn :)

KEEP LOOKING...NOT FRIENDLY OR SAFE

Posted Jan 3, 2018
Pros: IT HAD A GOOD LOCATION
Cons: PROBABLY THE MANAGEMENT
Location: VERY GOOD LOCATION...IT WAS VERY RUNDOWN AND STAFF LAZY
I REGRET CHOOSING THIS HOTEL:( FIRE ALARM WENT OFF AT FIVE IN THE MORNING. I NEVER SAW ONE HOTEL STAFF AND NO BODY WAS DIRECTED WHAT TO DO! IT WAS MINUS 29 AND MANAGEMENT WAS NOT APOLOGETIC FOR FIRE IN THE ELECTRICAL ROOM. TAKE YOUR LIFE IN YOUR OWN HANDS, WHEN STAYING HERE. YOU CAN TELL THIS PROPERTY HAS BAD MANAGEMENT AS STAFF DO NOT CARE ABOUT GUESTS.

It is so unfortunate that the fire alarms went off at 5am on New Years Eve day, and that it was disturbing to our guests, however the alarms did what they were supposed to do in alerting guests of a possible fire and to evacuate their rooms. Unfortunately, it was very cold outside, but the fire department arrived right away, and once everything was clear, guests were able to come back into the building. The Hotel and the entire management team is indeed very upset that this occurred and we apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused; but are we most thankful that everyone was evacuated safely and swiftly which was our primary concern.

Average hotel. Good for travel with a pet.

Posted Jan 3, 2018
Hotel is pretty average. The beds were new and comfortable but the rest wasn’t upgraded. The room was clean. The kitchen was not well stocked with dishes but there was a large table. We had a large living room with pull out couch. The pet fee was very reasonable (20$)

Thank you for choosing to stay with us this winter. We began updating our guest rooms last winter and were able to complete 76 out of the 155 rooms within the Hotel, but did stop renovations during our peak travel seasons. The balance of the rooms we are aiming to complete in 2018, and hope that you will return during your next visit so you can experience first hand the changes we're making.

Cold room, no Internet, 5am fire alarm, no phones.

Posted Jan 2, 2018
Pros: Proximity to Parliment
Cons: Most everything
Our stay was over New Years. First night the bedroom had no hear. Called Maintenance and was not repaired. 5am fire alarm. No intercom an phones are dead. Smoke was in the lobby but conflicting directions were being given resulting in people going both directions in stairwell. No Phone or internet for next day until we checked out. Called again for bedroom heat on second night and was finally repaired.. The unit was unplugged. The parking pass the hotel sold me for $18 did not work when we checked out. Otherwise Happy New Year.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us, so we know where we can focus training efforts and best improve our services. As you've noted, there was a small fire that occurred in and was contained to the electrical room of the Hotel the morning of New Years Eve day. The alarms did what they were supposed to do in alerting guests of a possible fire and to evacuate their rooms. The fire department arrived right away, and once everything was clear, guests were able to come back into the building. The Hotel and the entire management team is indeed very upset that this occurred and we apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused; but are we most thankful that everyone was evacuated safely and swiftly which was our primary concern. Other than the wifi and guest rooms phones being out of order, the Hotel has been running as usual. As the incident was contained to an electrical room where our telephones, internet and computer systems run from, it was the subsequent water damage that appears to have caused the delay in having the wifi and phones up and running immediately. We are so appreciative that our guests have been so understanding. We do hope you will consider staying with us again where we have the opportunity to leave you with a more positive impression.

nice rooms, poor breakfast.

Posted Jan 2, 2018
Hotel in general was clean and semi modern, lacked in the breakfast, as it was not free, and only vegan option was toast.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience based on your recent visit with us. We appreciate your feedback, and we're sorry to hear that we didn't have specific vegan breakfast menu options available to you other than toast and fresh fruit. We understand that eating out at a restaurant can sometimes post a challenge for certain dietary requirements, but we are always happy to speak with our kitchen staff if there is something specific a client would like prepared for them; we will always do our best to be as accommodating as possible. Thank you again for your input, and we do hope for the opportunity to host you again during your next visit to Ottawa.

Old and cold

Posted Dec 27, 2017
The hotel is old and needs updating. The atmosphere of the loddy is cold and dark. The have portable heaters behind the front desk. The room was ok, however the bed was super uncomfortable, extremely soft that you feel as if you have sink down onto the floor. Not recommended

We are so sorry to hear that you did not find our reception area welcoming. We do have centralized heating in the Hotel of course, and floor heating along the inner part of the Front Desk, but because the desk is close to the back doors that lead to the parking lot, some of our staff may feel a draft during colder winter days, and therefore they turn on some additional heating to make themselves more comfortable, which we are happy to provide. In December 2016 all of the mattresses throughout the Hotel were replaced. We chose the same brand used by the Marriott chains as they had terrific reviews. We're sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the new mattresses. Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback to us.
