Nice hotel with limited extras

Posted Jan 10, 2018
Pros: Clean and comfortable
Cons: Expand the restaurant menu, finish construction for the gym to be open, train desk staff on courteous responses, Add travel food/accessories store
Location: Food, walking,
The hotel itself is beautiful but there are very few extra amenities to make it better. We have stayed here numerous time for local meetings. The hotel has a VERY SMALL place to buy a couple very expensive items if you would like a beer/wine/water but nothing of the basic hotel options. There are no snacks, medicines, drinks things of that nature that you can purchase except for the few snacks that are in the mini bar of the room (which are very expensive). We were politely referred to the hotel chain across the street for a thermometer, cold medicine and waters where they have a convenience store open until 10pm. Thank goodness a short walk solved this. This location also has not workout facility or gym. There used to be one down the road but it is gone. I was given guest passes to a 5 minute walk (not conducive when it would have to be a late night Portland walk because of my schedule) only to go and find out they would not let me in b/c the passes the hotel gave me where expired 12/31/17 (9 days earlier). The gentleman that worked the front desk the final day was a bit rude when our keys did not work when trying to get our luggage and check out. He blamed us for them being deactivated and when he "reactivated" it and gave us another key (for 2 rooms) neither room worked and still tried to blame us or take no ownership or apology. It would have been better to say something about how they were sorry and would like to resolve it instead of how we must be doing it.

Excellent hotel in downtown Portland

Posted Dec 31, 2017
The hotel location is perfect. It's just far away enough from the hustle & bustle of downtown Portland but also only a few mins drive away. It's dog friendly & we were able to bring our dog for no additional fees. They have a complimentary wine tasting at 5pm also. The bedroom was very clean & the bed was also very comfortable. It was a great stay.

Nice hotel on the river

Posted Dec 29, 2017
Pros: Great location with beautiful river views.
Cons: Housekeeping, restaurant
Location: Beautiful river walk outside hotel.
Beautiful hotel right next to river walk area. Our stay would have been a 5 were it not for the restaurant being closed due to renovation and room cleanliness. We found gummy bears next to the bed and an empty plastic water bottle under the table. The water bottle was there throughout our 5 day stay. Other than those 2 points, the hotel was very nice. Christmas decor was very nicely done, morning coffee, tea and chocolate along with a very nice choice of newspapers added to hotel's pluses. Hotel caters to dogs (and their owners), having water bowl by the front door and pet friendly staff. Would have been nice to have available parking - valet is $35 per night and there is no street parking. Great bar service and very nice whiskey selection!!

Thanks much MIMI. We appreciate your business and the 4-star rating. I'm very sorry for the handful of items you experienced that were less than our best. We are thankful for the feedback and hope to see you again on your next trip to Portland!

Perfect in Portland

Posted Dec 16, 2017
Very friendly, comfortable hotel with super service. The happy hour in the lobby was a treat. One caveat: if you use car service make sure you put in the address correctly - the GPS seems inexact on this riverfront location and local drivers don’t seem familiar with this hotel.

Denied reservation at check in!

Posted Dec 12, 2017
Staff denied my reservation at check in even after I showed a receipt from Expedia. They made me call Expedia and continued insisting my payment would not be honored for most of an hour. Amazing!

Nice newer hotel right on the water

Posted Dec 11, 2017
The hotel is located on the riverfront separated from the water only by a jogging path. All the other hotels were separated from the water by a busy frontage street. There is a small marina close by where we were treated to a Christmas boat parade two of the three nights we stayed. It was fantastic. The hotel was clean with an accommodating staff. I would stay again. Jeff F.

Location: Located on the river was beautiful. Quiet.
This was the best hotel experience we have experienced to date. Everything was perfect. A beautiful clean room and an amazing staff. We will be staying at Kimpton wherever we go from now on.

Beautiful view!

One night stay but would have loved to stay longer! Had a room with rivetfront views that was perfect. Staff was professional and helpful. Away from the main areas but well within walking distance.
