The hotel location and cleanliness along with the staff were great. The only issue we had was that the room was 80'F and didn't cool down as the windows would only open about 3-4 inches and a/c was not an option. Apparently, with the hotel being so old, the options are either a/c or heat, not both at the same time. The hotel had the main system set such that only heat was an option for the season. The staff did provide a standing fan which helped, but it was not ideal. The heating/air conditioning should be updated so that guests may control the room temperature themselves.

Valet car parkers were the best! Check in was sub standard. No information was really given to us about the hotel. Got a coupon for a free appetizer at the bar but the person who checked us in neglected to tell us you had to order an entree. It was stated on the coupon but in tiny writing. The hotel had not changed the heat over to AC yet, the outdoor temperature was on the mid 70s and the room was warmer than that with no way to control the room temperature, we had to have the windows open the entire stay. Thank goodness there was a ceiling fan. We ordered breakfast from room device the night before. It came half an hour later than we requested and one of the items was not what was described on the menu. Robes in the rooms would be nice. When I checked out I asked them to remove the room service charge which they said they would although I have no idea if they did because they would not give me my bill because I booked through a third party, you!

Understanding that the building is old, it was renovated. But there were a few things damaged in the suite I was in. Door knob to bathroom was broken, the metal rod for shower was nearly hanging off the wall. No soap was given to the room.

When we checked in, we were told our room was by the elevator and small. Would we like to upgrade to a suite for only $25.? Sure. There was no water in the room, no ice bucket. We could not regulate the thermostat. We were told the a/c doesn't work until the heat shuts off for the season.Parking is valet for $29.00 a day NOT including gratuity. There is self parking for $20.00. Guests are not allowed to use luggage carriers. Bell persons are required to do it for you. It's a lovely building,and the staff are excellent.
