Dog Smell and Noisy

Posted Oct 14, 2017
This was horrible. First room smelled like a dirty dog. The linen smelled like eggs. The next room was an odd balll room. Third room made some crazy noise all night like an alarm. This is a total waste of money. There neighborhood and surrounding are is loaded with drug dealers and other types of sispicious characters.

Nice hotel but staff needs an attitude adjustment

Posted Oct 6, 2017
Pros: The rooms are very nice...bed is comfortable and bathroom is good.
Cons: black out shades.....if you want to sleep in...very difficult with current window treatments.
Upon arrival at 11p.m with luggage, the two valets watched as I got the suitcase out of the cab and took it into the hotel. Never offer to help, too busy doing nothing. The restaurant attached to the hotel....bartender had no personality at all. Never greeted us....just took our order...filled it and when off on his own. Of course he became more personable when it was time for the bill to be paid with a gratuity. Housekeeper was personable and did a great job.

Exceptional service and location

Posted Sep 21, 2017
Pros: Service and decor.
Cons: The pool deck was a bit messy with used towels from departed guests
Location: Centrally located in the Gas Lamp. You can walk to a myriad of restaurants, bars and shopping.
Upon our arrival for a 2 night business/ pleasure visit, we were immediately treated by the staff with exceptional care. The room was immaculate modern with every amenity.

Location: Gaslamp Quarter; Petco stadium, Embarcadero, Little Italy, Bus ride away from Balboa Park
The Kimpton Palomar is just a few steps from Gaslamp Quarter, and a step away from most of the amazing sites (we walked to most or took the bus). Kimpton Palomar itself was busy with conferences so it had many people coming and going. Check in was really quick - we arrived at the hotel at 11:00 am, in our room by 11:05 am. Rooms were spacious and clean - loved the hard wood floors! I had an accident where I spilled a drink on the corner of the bed one evening while reaching for my cell phone. I let the front desk know, the sheets were changed right away. While we were there, we did receive a couple of texts from the hotel asking us if we were happy with our stay and what more they could do for us - nice extra touch. The only minor complaints I would have is the safe placement and the lack of drawers. I had to sit on the floor every time to get access to the safe, could barely see the numbers to lock and unlock. My suggestion is to raise it a little higher. Lack of drawers meant that we had to practically live out of our suitcases for a week - not fun. We didn't bother with the mini bar - there is a 7-Eleven and a CVS a few steps away where you can get whatever treats you need for a fraction of the price. There is a bit issue with homeless people sitting at the corners of the street, but it wasn't just a problem of Kimptons - they were on every street corner - we did realize quickly that they were harmless so we were in no danger. All in all, we had a great time in San Diego

Pros: The location is good. Parking garage is right across street.
The staffs were friendly. But the AC noisy is very loud. The closet smell is very bad. The room is very small.

Nice hotel on the border of Gaslamp

Posted Sep 20, 2017
Once you enter the hotel, you can get lost in the boutique feel, their taco window, and wine social hour. I was unhappy with the location and amount of transients outside the hotel. I enjoy running when I travel and I didn’t feel safe to do so. Also, $45 parking. Go down the street and pay $15.

Hello Alysia Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're glad you took in the Taco Bar offerings as well as our complimentary social hour in the lobby. With regard to the parking charges, we do utilize the resources of an outside company as we do not have a parking garage. With that, comes additional feels and we regret any inconvenience this caused you. We do appreciate you choosing our hotel for your visit and again, for sharing about your experience. Room Very Disappointing

Posted Sep 18, 2017
Pros: Location, staff was friendly.
Cons: The room was not up to par with what one would expect from a spa suite.
Reserved a spa suite thinking I'd take some relaxing soaks in a spa tub to ease some back pain. Was sadly disappointed to see that the spa suite meant just a separate bathtub and shower - no jets or anything, just a tub. I can get a standard bathtub anywhere. The room itself was also in disrepair. There were massive marks/scratches on the floors and furniture throughout the rooms. The nice spa sink did not drain. Overall, this was a very disappointing room, especially for the price. I ended up cutting my stay there short and went to another hotel. To their credit, they did refund me for the rest of my stay since I had prepaid.

Hello Craig I regret to hear about the disappointment with your stay. This is definitely not the impression we wish you to be left with. We do work to turn any challenges around that might occur and the rebate of the additional nights is something that we hope was a gesture of our sincerity in this matter. We strive to provide an awesome experience for all of our guests and I'm sorry to hear that we fell short of that. Thank you for taking the time to share your comments and for bringing this to the attention of our front desk staff while you here. Best Regards, Jim Hollister

Walking distance to the convention center

Posted Sep 10, 2017
Pros: Great friendly staff and very accomodating
Cons: Room size was a little small but adequate
Location: Perfect location for taking advantage of the Gaslamp Quarter
Only about a 15 minute walk to the convention center and right in the middle of all the Gaslamp activities!

Nice

Posted Sep 8, 2017
Pros: Location is within walking distance to many attractions.
Cons: The security feature of using a room card to access the elevator is a good idea but the hotel needs to make sure it works. Often had issues.
Location: Petco park, Seaport Village, USS Midway, tons of restaurants and bars
We have stayed at Kimptons in other cities and know they are nice. This hotel has a nice lobby and very beautiful pool and lounge area It is clean and staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are small but bathrooms are spacious.
