Our stay at Margaritaville San Diego was such a fantastic experience! The staff at every level was professional friendly helpful and communicative. The decor is fun and lively, the amenities were great, rooms were all well maintained and location was excellent, oh and the free use of cruiser bikes was an added bonus. Overall 5 stars!!

This is a newly renovated hotel and it was decorated very appropriate for the theme of the hotel. It was cute. Overall the staff was friendly and everything went well. However, a few things stood out to me. There wasn't a closet in the room or anywhere to hang clothes. No steam iron, iron or ironing board which seem to be basic amenities at even a lower rated hotel. Our blinds were broken and we needed to call maintenance to fix it, which happened in a quick manner and was efficient. Our toilet rocked when we sat on it which made us feel unsafe and the toilet also plugged up and we needed to call maintenance. It was a couple hours before someone arrived to fix it. So, I wonder if more effort went into making the hotel look good but some basic structural items were overlooked or rushed.

Staff was courteous, helpful and cheerful. Housekkeeping was very poor. Bed linen was not changed during 5 day stay. Floor not swept, carpet not cleaned. Empty wine botttles, dirty glases etc not removed. Iron board botvput back in cupboard etc

Great location and the hotel has a lively, modern feel. The bars and restaurants are great, staff are really friendly and welcoming. The price is a bit high for the room facilities. Three of us stayed in the apartment. The sofa bed wasn’t made up and they only left enough tea, coffee, water and towels for 2 despite paying resort fees for 3. Our room wasn’t cleaned twice during our stay.

I booked a corner room but upon check in, i was told that system had a glitch so they didn’t have a corner room. They offered a 4th floor room facing the pool with a patio so it’s equivalent room rate. They failed to tell me that the room facing the pool also meant that lound music would play until 11pm! I booked the corner room to have a quieter area.

I was excited to book this property as it looked super nice in the photos and was rated as a 4-star resort. I only stayed one night, but did have a pretty good experience overall. Things I liked: Free wifi throughout the hotel, nice valets, luggage storage, rooftop pool and bar, bed comfort, room decor. Things I didn’t like: Noisy if your room faces the pool, no room upgrade offered even though I'm Expedia Gold and I inquired about a bathtub. (I know some of the rooms have spa tubs not just bath/shower combos), fridge in room was warm, beds were made with the comforter on the bottom and a sheet on top (huh?), down pillows (too hot), and onsite restaurant was kind of lame (just bar food, essentially).

Margaritaville was a great place to stay during our trip to San Diego. We were visiting for a concert and also enjoyed ringing in the New Year in So Cal. We were close to all the amenities of the Gaslamp District, Petco Park (where the concert was held), and all the amazing restaurants and bars. We felt safe. The only downside was that we didn’t get the room we had reserved on Expedia. Margaritaville was willing to offset the cost by reducing our resort fees…but it was still a bummer. Also, window looking out of our room was super dirty. The city is beautiful and it would have been nice to have a clean, clear view from our room. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay and use of the bar area with fun games and great service.
