Nice, Comfortable and Clean

Posted Oct 16, 2017
I stayed at this hotel for 1 week for a conference. The room was a good size (king size bed) the bathroom was on the smaller end, but had a very lux feeling with marble vanity and great big mirrors. Overall a good option when staying in downtown and only a few minutes walk to Gaslamp or a $6 dollar Uber To the convention center. It was disappointing to find out the pool had been removed, in place there is a cute very chic rooftop bar with cabanas and beautiful table seating. Drinks were good, ok priced, and the staff was very attentive. I opted for the Breakfast daily option and was very happy I did. The morning continue breakfast was very hearty and coffee was great. The breakfast selection included : pastries, granola, yogurt, fruit, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, bacon, sausage, and mixed berries. Overall, a great stay for a good price.

Awful hotel

Posted Sep 8, 2017
We booked this hotel for our honeymoon due to its amenities and location. Amenities were to include a pool and restaurant. We got there, and there was no pool, the restaurant was being remodeled the whole time. The common area/lobby (the only place free wifi was available) was being remodeled for half of our stay. We also were supposed to have the option to purchase breakfast which we never had. The only nice part of our stay was the staff.

Good Evening Katie, I wanted to apologize for your most recent stay with us. We are currently renovating the hotel right now to soon be Hotel Republic. With these ongoing renovations were creating a more modernized lobby and creating a concierge lounge in place of the pool. Our team is working hard and effortlessly to make these changes as fast as possible along with updating our 3rd party sites with current information for our guest's. Hopefully if you choose to book with us again all of these new changes will amaze you along with our amazing staff! Warm Regards, Alyssia Rincon

Pros: The bed
Cons: Everything. All seemed to update but already dated
Services seemed to be stretched thin. It started with the fact that I waited over an hour after 4:00pm for my room to be ready

My spouse and I go to San Diego often for weekend trips to get away since we live in OC. The staff was awesome very friendly and nice. We've stayed at this hotel before and loved it so we re booked to come again. Everything was great up to when we got to our room. The room and bathroom was very clean. Expect for the white sheets for discustingly stained in dirt like as if they didn't change the sheets. Is was awful and gross..very upsetting. I did not want to make a big deal about it or get anyone Introuble cause it was obvious that the sheets were not changed at all they were filthy, so we just took the sheets off of the bed. Everything was good except for that. Don't think we will be staying here again.

Dirty

Posted Sep 4, 2017
Last minute booking room was $409, over priced for the quality of the "renovated high floor room". The shower kept on turning on randomly after I would turn the knob off. The shower head wasn't screwed on completely, mold and rust in the bathroom. The frame of the bed was peeling. There's and extra $25 charge for the microwave, $25 for the refrigerator, $15 for wifi. Valet parking is $47 which I think is the only extra charge worth it, for the safety of your vehicle and belonging. The room is definitely not worth $400,300 or 200. Besides that the service was okay.

Pros: The courtesy and professionalism of all hotel staff, desk clerks, housekeeping ladies, lobby lounge staff
Cons: The internet service in the business center was slow & one of the printers was not working. Shower floor slippery when wet; need bar to hold onto
Overall I had an excellent experience at the hotel; however there were a couple areas of concern to me, as outlined below.

Pros: It was nice, spacious and clean. Staff was helpful and friendly.
Cons: The only issue with the hotel was that you can hear the neighboring rooms tv as though it is in your room. There should be better sound barriers.
I was in San Diego for 36 hours for work. This hotel was in walking distance from the conference center and was very convenient.
