Lovely hotel with old-world luxury. A rare find!

Pros: Lovely lobby area with beautiful fresh flowers throughout really sets the tone. Staff were very helpful and our room was wonderful!
Cons: Can't think of a thing!
Location: Very convenient to Gaslamp quarter and the Convention Center where I was attending a trade show. Wonderful restaurants a short walk away, too!
In town for a trade show and had a wonderful stay. The Westgate is a lovely hotel, ornate but warm and welcoming. Lobby was full of beautiful fresh flower arrangements. Friendly, helpful staff greeted our cab and helped us settle in. Room was spacious and best of all, sliding glass doors opened to a small balcony. Nice to be able to let the warm, fresh San Diego breezes in! Wonderful restaurants are within a block or two of the hotel and the Convention Center was just a short shuttle ride away, although also walk-able. I recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again!

Great value for a large room in downtown San Diego

Pros: Value, room comfort, facilities.
Cons: Above average experience all around.
Location: Gaslamp for a party night out, Petco for baseball, the Midway for historical sites. We did it all within walking distance of the Westgate.
We knew we had to pay for parking and the resort fee but were happy with the valet parking service we got for our $40, and the $20 resort fee paid for amazing amenities at the co-located spa with free access to the steam room and sauna, fully kitted out gym, and beautiful pool area. We also found the rooftop chill-out area convenient for our gathering of 14 people.

Nice hotel with an old style

Pros: The old atmosphere.
Cons: Some minor maintenace details in the room.
Location: The hotel is right in the center of downtown so many things are at walking distance, such as the gaslamp quarter and all the marina attractions.
The hotel building is modern, but once inside it looks like you are in the nineteen century or earlier. There are many nice pieces of old furniture and chandeliers, and for the most part they are well preserved. The staff is very corteous and efficient.

Ok hotel for business people , not for familey

Parking is $40 +$20 resort fee did not mention on website , pool and GYM in next door building. Hotel is in good location but not pleasant to walk in streets with homeless

Everything was perfect!

We were greeted right away and handed our key. I had no problems. The room was super nice, spacious and the bathroom exceeded my expectations. Would definitely recommend!

Great hotel downtown

Great location, within walking distance to lots of restaurants, stores, & the bay. Nice clean hotel, very friendly helpful staff. Reservation agent was not so friendly or nice, don't let that sway you.

Sneaky fees

The hotel is nice but they charge $40 for parking which was not disclosed to us, I only realized this charge after our stay. Not cool.
