Nice hotel close to downtown shopping.

Posted Dec 10, 2017
Pros: Cleanliness and beauty of hotel and the accommodating staff.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Close proximity to downtown shopping and art galleries.
I spent a night here while I was travel nursing. The hotel is within walking distance of the downtown Santa Fe shopping. Which is well worth a visit if you love to shop. The hotel staff is excellent. I was able to park my car in valet for the day and leave it there the next day until I was ready to depart the city. Since I was traveling alone and only staying for one night, I did not use all the facilities. But I did go the bar for a cocktail and was able to have food delivered to be there which was very good. I enjoyed my stay here and would highly recommend this hotel.

Lacking 4 star hotel

Posted Dec 1, 2017
Pros: Great breakfast! In spite of the problems with the room, the maintence staff were pleasant in trying to correct the problem. They were truly concern
Cons: Better trained staff in general.
Location: Great location to downtown Santa Fe.
My wife I spent the first night in our junior suite without heat! One electrical outlet next to the bed was not working along with the heat issue. We spent our first evening meeting a parade of maintence personnel trying to repair the problems. Finally around 12:30 AM we went to bed. The next morning we had 2 more maintenance men at the door to work on the heat. They informed us they found the boiler was off when they arrived a work that morning. A least an hour passed before we felt heat in our room. Went out for the day to return to our room early evening, no heat again. Two more maintenance staff worked on the heat before resolving the problem several hours later. We held our ground on compensation after the front desk made a stingy offer. Since we reserved our room thru Expedia rooms could not be comped. Poorly trained, inexperienced staff along with poor communication led to these problems. This shows a lack of leadership on the part of management. We will never consider staying at this property again!!!

Dear Jim, I am incredibly sorry for your poor experience with us. I will be reviewing this with the Engineering team to improve on their service standards, as this is completely unacceptable. I am happy that the front desk was able to find a way to apologize by providing complimentary breakfast every morning and comping the daily Resort Fee, since third party reservations cannot be changed by the hotel. Please know your stay experience is far from our normal service standards and I do take this seriously. I genuinely hope you will reconsider staying with us again should you return to Santa Fe. Sincerely, Adrienne Kerr Hotel Manager

Perfect Location

Beautiful hotel right on the edge of the Plaza in the oldest State Capitol in the USA at 500+ years. Good lounge and restaurant. Easy parking.

Nice hotel in a great Santa Fe location

Posted Nov 17, 2017
Pros: Room was quiet, clean but a little out- dated. Enjoyed the lobby bar. Overall good service. Nice place to stay.
Cons: Hotel was a little too dark for my taste. Both ice machines were out of service on our floor. Rooms could use an update! Room service menu was limited
Location: Excellent location near great shopping, things to see and do, and excellent dining.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Rooms are clean. Excellent maid service. Limited room service menu. Nice bar in the lobby area. Great spa services. Had an expert deep tissue massage for my sore shoulder. Hotel was a little dark for my taste. Located in a good location near great shopping and restaurants. We stayed during the off season. Things closed down early. Night life was slim at best. No complaints to speak of. I would stay here again!

Sad to see this great older hotel going down hill.

Posted Nov 9, 2017
Pros: Location is good. But there are lots of hotels close to the Plaza.
Cons: Read above
Upon arrival room was not ready, we were told that a tour group had been there and they were going to "freshen up the room" and would text when ready. At about 5;30 I finally went to front desk to see about room, it was ready. Upon entering it smelled so badly because they had used an ionization type cleaning machine. No other rooms available in this class or better and if I move down since we prepaid with Expedia I was told we would not be able to get a lower rate. The safe was open and locked in the open position it took two calls to get anyone to respond. The screen door to the rooms deck was hanging, the towel rack kept falling off the wall, we requested a room with a fireplace but there was no wood. I was told not at check in but when I asked about wood that a bellman would have to bring the wood and light the fire, and return with more wood. Each time I talked to the Front desk manager who was very nice I was told that because I prepaid with Expedia that there was noting they could do. Oh yes and the heat was down in the building, our blower fan coil (furnace) made a very loud hum and after several calls down engineering finally showed up only to tell me that it was just fine. After some badgering and another engineer they decided that indeed the motor in the blower was out. OH well we will try to get a new motor sorry just leave the unit turned off and it won't hummmmmm all night. Bottom line is don't stay here and don't prepay with Expedia.

Dear John, I am incredibly sorry to hear about your stay experience with us. Please know this is not typical. The heating for the hotel was not out and I apologize that you were given incorrect information and had so many troubles getting assistance. I will look into everything you mentioned and I promise action will be taken. Again, I am genuinely sorry for your experience and I do hope you will still think of us in your travels to Santa Fe in the future. Sincerely, Adrienne Kerr Hotel Manager

Loved our stay.

Posted Nov 6, 2017
Location: Close to the plaza in Santa Fe, with lots of art, jewelry, and craft shopping (or just looking). Any type of food desired is available nearby.
My wife and I enjoyed two nights at the hotel in Santa Fe. From check in to departure our stay was met with smiling faces, excited to help us in any way. Our room was clean and welcoming. The only issue with the hotel was that they were having mechanical issues with the air conditioning, so the room and hotel facilities were uncomfortably warm. However, the hotel discounted our bill for the inconvenience without being asked. Would return to El Dorado in a heartbeat.

Preferred Hotels & Resorts? Hardly So.

Posted Nov 2, 2017
Cons: Personnel.
I can't believe that Preferred Hotels allows this Hotel to carry such label with the type of employees and zero attention to detail that they provide and portray. The staff does not have the slightest idea what a luxury property should run like. From the second we arrived all they have shown is this: three valet parking attendants in the garage standing around doing absolutely nothing, and not offering any help with the luggage, or even opening the door. The front desk could care less about my complaints either at check-in or checkout. I saw employees as they walked around the lobby and bar area yelling at one another as though they owned the place without regard to guests. None of the ice machines worked on ANY of the hotel floors; when I asked for ice at room service, they brought it up (literally) in an enormous plastic tub to pour it into my ice bucket without any type of care. I saw cleaning personnel walking around the lobby with open cleaning products, again just passing through. To start the day housekeeping loudly knocking on any and every door at eight o'clock in the morning on a Sunday, simply because it was convenient for them to do so without regard to noise levels or anyone around. And that $25 resort fee per day for a badly bent bucket of ice, a run-of-the-mill coffee maker, and a mediocre swimming pool is unacceptable. Quite frankly this property deserves a quality inspection by Preferred Hotels and Resorts, because they certainly are not worthy of the label.

Dear Karla, I am incredibly sorry that your stay went so poorly, especially regarding our staff. We usually pride ourselves on excellent customer service and I am very upset that this was not reflected during your stay. I will be sending your review to the managers of each department to review service standards with their teams. Again, I am very sorry that your experience was poor, but I will do everything I can to ensure our team is made aware and brought to the standards they should be at.
