Terrible in so many ways

Posted Feb 20, 2018
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
Front Desk Staff -- There is one woman in particular who works the front desk and made my stay particularly uncomfortable. She was rude when I asked her about the deposit that was charged to my account (see below) and she monitored what all the hotel guests were doing and where they were going. At one point she asked a couple who was sitting in the lobby where other guests had gone to that evening. I found this very disturbing as I do not enjoy my comings and goings monitored that closely by hotel staff. Deposit: -- The deposit required at this hotel is $100 PER NIGHT not per stay. I paid more in deposit fees than I did to stay at the hotel. Housekeeping -- Terrible cleaning service. Did not empty trash, clean shower or bathroom, and one day they didn't come at all to my room. I came back in the evening and my bed wasn't even made. Parking -- They charge you $40/night to have your car valet parked if you are staying at the hotel. It is better to park on the nearby streets. I paid around $4 per night for street parking. This is the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. Motel 6 is better than this.

Vintage and beautiful.

Posted Feb 17, 2018
Pros: Vintage, cozy, romantic feel with great service.
Cons: Signage.
Location: Close to pike place market, restaurants, downtown, Seattle Center, water front, everything in the downtown/Belltown area as well as Seattle Center.
Wonderful surprise. Couldn't find hotel entrance at first and drove around the building twice, becoming increasingly concerned that we picked the wrong place to celebrate my wife's birthday. No entrance sign, old dilapidated building (at least looks that way in the middle of the day), and doors locked to the restaurant. Oh-oh! But once we got in, the world changed. Walked up the old stairway to the hotel lobby and tah-dah...beautiful candles, fireplace, and wonderfully helpful staff. Then went to the room that was beautifully aged but vintage and classy, wonderful windows, warm coloring and decor; romantic and cozy. We then walked only 3-4 blocks to pike place market, THE Seattle landmark, and had lunch, coffee, shopping combined with out of this world people watching and music. Napped back at the room and then had dinner at the El Gaucho restaurant on the first floor, and that place is as "bomb" as a steak house gets. Great food and service, dark and swanky, top-of-the-world elegance. Then they offered a free shuttle service to the Bagley Wright Theater for our play and offered to pick us up but we decided to walk back to enjoy the night ambiance and a little exercise. Finally, had 1-2 drinks in the El Gaucho lounge with piano player encompassing our ears with beautiful music and beautiful romantic lighting surrounding us. A great day, overall - and El Gaucho was a big part of the reason. Great get-away hiding in Belltown Seattle.

laughable customer service, zero accessibility

Posted Feb 7, 2018
I booked this room as part of a short trip for my partner's birthday. He got off work early that day, and I was able to arrange with the front desk an early check in for him. Over the phone I gave my card number so that he wouldn't have to pay for any incidentals, as I was treating him. However when he arrived they made him give his card and charged him anyway! They would not allow him in, even after I had called ahead and set everything up. I was embarrassed--this was a birthday gift, and now he had funds taken out of his account and held indefinitely. Upon my arrival, the front desk agent was unable to explain to me what caused the mix-up, and could not return the funds to him and use my card in its stead. Later we received a call in the room that they COULD, but after I walked back down to the desk, the employee could not "find where she needed to go" on the computer, and ultimately she gave up and I returned once more to my room. She tried to tell me they didnt really CHARGE him, afterall, it was merely a hold... like the fact that $100 came out of his account was no big deal and I should relax. Nothing was offered as an apology or way to make it right. Ridiculous. Combine this with the $40 (!) valet parking that is seriously like two blocks away from the hotel entrance, and the lack of an elevator so you have to lug your suitcases up a comically long flight of stairs, made for a super disappointing experience. He still doesnt have the funds back in his account, either.

Great Seattle Experience

Posted Feb 4, 2018
The El Gaucho is a small and nicely appointed hotel in downtown Seattle. It’s located close to the Space Needle, the waterfront, and a short walk to Pike’s Place market. There are several good pubs and restaurants nearby. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We’d stay again.

Lovely hotel in the city

Posted Feb 4, 2018
The Inn at El Gaucho had all the elements we were looking for. We went overnight for my husband’s birthday. The location was great because you can walk to all the bars and clubs in Belltown on 1st Ave. We had a Queen suite and just loved it. The bed was comfortable. The couches were unexpectedly super comfortable. There was a cute coffee station, desk, and mini fridge in, what we thought would be the closet. I like how they set the tone with music on the TV. There was a cute, personalized card and El Gaucho packaged cookies to welcome us. The front desk lady was lovely. She was very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. She even printed menus and gave us everything about the restaurants around because we were planning to go get dinner and drinks. Everything was seriously wonderful for our mini overnight excursion. Just note that there is no parking garage, so you can either valet at a decent price or find parking on the street. There are also quite a bit of stairs. I’m sure there is an elevator, but we chose the stairs each time and lucked out on parking because we arrived at 8pm. Thank you staff at The Inn at El Gaucho!!!

This hotel was nothing but accomadating! The staff were absolutely delightful and the hotel itself was awesome. It was close to everything we did and I would 100% suggest it to anyone who is going to stay in Seattle.

Cozy

Posted Jan 16, 2018
This is one of my favorite hotels in downtown Seattle. Friendly staff. Very clean. Love that each room has a couch and chair to lounge in. Maybe time for some updating, but no biggie. Very cozy feel. Do yourself a favor and go to The Big Picture to see a movie too! Happy hour at the Inn at El Gaucho. So much fun to be had in one building.
