"Quiet & Convenient to SLU; Needs some TLC"
We talked to several front desk staff during our stay, most were friendly enough, but not overly helpful. It felt like all they were there to do was check you in. No one offered info on the hotel or room amenities. Booked a Superior King room- 4 nights. The hotel appeared nearly empty so after 1 night we upgraded to a suite (only 2). Worth the extra money. The first room was adequate, but the suite was far superior. There is a living room w/fireplace, large TV, wet bar, fridge, desk, Keurig coffee maker, bedroom w/K bed & TV, plus HUGE bathroom w/jetted tub, spa shower, large double vanity w/TV in mirror. If we had not upgraded, we wouldn't have enjoyed our stay. Needs improvement: More guest services information, better house keeping- No one we asked, knew how to operate the gas fireplace in the room. Housekeeping didn't seem to do much more than change the sheets, leave clean towels and empty the trash. No cups for the coffee maker and no coffee pods, only tea. Lighting is poor in both room categories we stayed in. Overall the hotel seems tired. The gym is neglected. I'm pretty sure we were the only ones to use it in 4 days. The water cooler was empty. There were refill bottles, but no one ever replaced it. The stack of towels was not replenished, by the 4th day we used the last of the towels, the bin to toss dirty towels was not picked up, the sanitizer wipe dispenser was empty so you couldn't wipe down the equipment and the biggest draw back, there is no bathroom

"Classic hotel"
Old structure which was combined with a new one. Making the the hotel have 2 elevators. Didn't get instructions nor were there signs at the parking elevator. We arrived at the middle of an ice storm. Hotel was packed with stranded people. The restaurant at hotel (Angelo's) stayed open. Management wanted to close early so employees can go home but they stayed open for us. They didn't close till everybody was done drinking and eating. They also had great music. As we woke next day, we were surprised with the view of the arc! Thank you for a great stay! Plus the indoor parking was enclosed with glass or hard plastic keeping it bright and the cold wind away! Great job!

"quiet & private place in the middle of everything"
Rick was a phenomenal host, every thing was great. don't let the closeness to I 55 fool you, we never heard any noise. The neighborhood has a lot going on both around the hotel and a few blocks away in Soulard. Great streets to walk on and easy to get to places. slated for a definite return!

"Saturday Stay"
Our family of 5, including 3 children, tried to stay at the hotel on a Saturday in December. Around midnight, the people in the room next to us began partying and banging on the wall that we shared. It went on for a while and we finally called the front desk. Security came and asked the group to settle down which they did for about 5 minutes and then they were at it again. We called a second time, and the front desk said, "We are handling it." We then asked for our car to be brought tothe front door and at 1:30am, we left downtown Stl. We were never offered another room and the people never stopped partying. We heard them as we left our hotel room. I called Monday morning and spoke with the manager and he offered us a free stay on another night. This is one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in, but one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. So sad!

"Great check in, location, and services"
Bob who checked us in was the most friendly person at a front desk we have had. The rooms are well sized and our view of the arch made for great relaxed evenings.
