It was way over priced for what you get. Bar area was dull. I have been in many hotels around the world and it was very uninspiring. North America is just to expensive now.

Service is slow, hotel is overpriced

Location: Queen street, people watching ;)
The Shangri-La is not as lavish as its name would suggest. Service is tolerable : things get done but slow. For ex. getting an extra towel or hypo-allergenic duvet took one hour (!) - The reception, chambermaid and room service is under-staffed or inefficient. It's a far cry from the Fairmont which is the real thing. The best thing is the location.

This was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. The staff was excellent. Anything that we needed, was met with a prompt response. The next time I visit Toronto, I'm definitely booking a stay here.

Outstanding service and cleanliness

We stayed in two rooms for 6 days as a family. Although somewhat expensive, the facilities in the hotel were excellent. Attention to detail in the lobby, bar and restaurant was outstanding with the food in particular notable. Room cleanliness was of a high standard. Staff always willing to help and very professional. The hotel has a central location in Toronto.

Excellent staff

All the staff ( the front desk, concierge, catering teams and fitness centre) were incredibly helpful. A pleasure to stay.

Buyer (Traveler) Beware!!!

Cons: Honor the reservations that are made.
Beware, the Shanga-La Toronto does not honor the reservations that they make! Be prepared to be told they overbooked the hotel and you do not have a room. My experience included being told on the day of arrival, having booked well over a week in advance, that I did not have a room. The hotel did not try and find an alternative, they acted as if it was not their problem. Hotel management chose to ignore the situation walking by and not acknowledging or assisting in any way. No one even apologized!! All of this took place as I stared at a Five Diamond Award the hotel allegedly earned. Clearly the award was obtained under a different management team and staff. Buyer beware this team does not care about its guests. You may find yourself stranded without a hotel room in a foreign city

Great Service

The staff, especially Julian Darisse, who we dealt with upon arrival was excellent. We arrived early with a 3 month old baby with us and he set up a room immediately so the baby and parents could rest. Our room was ready 2 hours later and he let us know immediately so we could rest as well. We felt very pampered and cared for during our stay by all the staff we met. Such a wonderful stay in Toronto.

Can't go wrong with Shangri-la

Location is downtown so u can walk to the best restaurants, lounges, parks Everything was great from the moment we stepped in till we checked out. The staff were nice and attentive The facility is spotless and great The suite we stayed at had the best city CN tower view Shall I say more?
