Great hotel, great staff, great location

Posted Sep 6, 2017
We really enjoyed our stay at the W washington. The staff was great, the location is perfect. The only thing we could criticized is that the lobby and restaurant are really crowdy and loud at night, because it turns into a club. So it is good if you are in the mood, but if you are enjoying a couple weekend and want it to be smooth and quiet, not really the place.

Thank you for your wonderful note! We truly appreciate your comments. Your experience is a true testament to the Whatever/Whenever service culture at W Hotels! Although I understand that you faced disappointment in regards to the size of the Room. I wish that we had the ability to offer each and every one of our guests a larger room or a suite. The W Washington D.C. is formerly the Hotel Washington, a National Historic Building. Upon renovation in 2009 we had little control over some facets of the building….such as room size and the façade. I hope that you can understand as to why rooms tend to be cozier. To make up for this, we do try to create a warm and comfortable experience in the Living Room, rooftop, with amenities, and with our personalized Whatever Whenever® service. Thank you again for sharing your voice on your last escape.

Great Ambiance!

Awesome location, however rooms are definitely smaller than most W locations. Staff were incredibly welcoming and the ambiance is wonderful. Would stay here again, proximity to food can't be beat, and the White House is literally across the street!

Great location, tiny, weird rooms.

Posted Aug 25, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Size of rooms. Privacy of bathrooms, in rooms. Hours of operation of lobby bar.
Location: White House, monuments, great restaurants.
This is the second time I've stayed here, selected for its great location. You can not beat this location for its nearness to the White House and other local tourist attractions. However, we probably will not stay here again, unless they have better room options I'm not aware of. The rooms are very small. Like cruise ship small. Also, the W, in its effort to be uber chic, has this strange propensity for bathrooms that are not very private. This room might be fine for one person, but two people, even married people might push the boundaries of what you are willing to share with your partner. If your partner is in the bathroom, and you are anywhere else in the room, you will know exactly what your partner is doing in there. There are no walls, but rather frosted glass on all sides. This is an improvement over the clear glass W uses in some of its rooms in other hotels we've stayed at. But even after 20 years of marriage, there are times we all need a little privacy. Also, the sink is in the main part of the room, not the bathroom, so teeth brushing, shaving, etc. all become a family affair. Also, another complaint I have is with the lobby bar. We returned from dinner on Wednesday night at 10:30 pm and wanted to have a night cap. We were disappointed the lobby bar was already closed for the evening. This was mid summer, prime tourist season. It's a nice hotel, but we may explore other options next time.

Perfect Location to Explore DC

Posted Aug 23, 2017
Pros: The location is perfect for exploring the monuments and museums. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons: My room was generally in good condition, but some trim in the bathroom was peeling away from the wall.
Location: The White House is only a few blocks away. Bring your tennis shoes! It's a nice walk to all of the monuments and museums.
I had a fantastic stay at the W Washington DC. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful with suggestions and directions. My room was compact but well appointed and comfortable. It was easy to walk to all of the monuments and museums. The rooftop bar had great food and a nice view. The gym was well-equipped, and the lobby was a comfortable place to kill a little time.

Location

Posted Aug 12, 2017
Pros: Its location.
Cons: Let guests park their cars. Make rooms bigger.
The location of this hotel is great because it is near the White House and The Mall. On the other hand the rooms are very small and the lobby is too noisy. You have to leave your car at the valet parking because there is no other option.

Swanky... I'd stay here every trip

Posted Jun 13, 2017 on Hotels
We stayed as a family here, but it is very swanky and geared towards adults. Don't get me wrong, we loved it, but it would be great for adults looking for a hotel with a good vibe.
