Good location but very outdated rooms/facilities

We stayed from 8/30 to 9/4 after spending a couple of nights at JW Marriott. In terms of hotel renovation and facilities Dusit lags far behind JW, Shangri-La and others I've stayed at Dubai previously. Also, they're very unaccomodating - JW, with clearly more heavy customer traffic to deal with let us check in early at 5am !! Dusit staff made us wait till 2pm despite room availability (we booked a 2 room suite, had multiple available per Expedia on check in date). This is despite a previous request to allow early check in.
In terms of room itself, very dated with 10 plus year old looking TVs and a blurry cable reception. Bathrooms had old showers, ok but looked very dated when compared to others in this area. The cleaning and non-reception staff was good but the folks at the reception desk were usually cold - folks this is a customer experience driven business !! For ant service request, we had to make multiple calls. I have travelled more than half the world and stayed at many 4/5 star hotels - this one is by no means a 5 star as claimed by Dusit. Per my experience, I won't even rate this at 4 stars. The only positive is it's cheaper than most alternatives in this category but then their rating is overinflated to begin with.
I would NOT recommend this hotel and for next visit will book connecting rooms at JW Marriott marquis.
