We arrived back at the hotel after attending an event nearby upon our return we decided to have a drink in the bar but were told it was closed which was fine, we were directed to a bar upstairs for residents but the barperson was in my opinion was very inexperienced and was on his own. There was quite a few people wanting to be served and some were understandably get annoyed with the slow service. The manager on at the time was quite abrupt in his manner and the way he spoke to the point of saying if people wanted to go elsewhere to just go. I was shocked by this and i have never seen anything like that before ,it spoiled the end of the evening somewhat as we were with some friends and only wanted to have a nightcap.

Our stay was great. The staff was really nice and helpful with recommendations. We noticed a few cleaning issues but overall great. Highly suggest getting your eggs made to order for breakfast. They were so much better. When you're in the area definitely walk to Carved for lunch. The sandwiches were AMAZING! The only real complaint was regarding the hot tub. We wanted to relax and soothe our sore bodies. The chlorine and bubbles were both very strong. I had to hold on to not float all around the hot tub. The chlorine in the steam bothered out eyes so much just sitting in there. Please note to swim you need a swim cap.

A great stay in this hotel. Facilities included were excellent. Use of impressive leisure facilities. Used the bar and restaurant. Breakfast was lovely. Helpful reception staff. We checked in early as room available and the hotel staff accommodated our bags before picking up before we left Dublin. Scenic surroundings. Great location by the quayside and theatre and museums and attractions. Would stay here again if returning to Dublin 👏

The only drawback is lack of bus service- specifically the city tour buses. Especially since the theater brings in visitors and your just across the street. The staff was always pleasant and helpful. The one that was most memorable and helpful was Kara, she had glasses and dark hair. She was just so amazing each time I had questions!! She truly made a tourist feel welcomed!! It’s perfect if you don’t want to be dead smack in city’s full excitement. The hotel was a great choice for this. Everything else was great except for the food but there are lots of restaurants around the area.

Poor service levels
After checking in, I went straight to the bar area for food as it was after 8pm. I advised the waitress where I was sitting, and after almost 15 minutes of waiting, I had to go to the bar to place my order for food and drink. It wasn't busy, and in the meantime I saw two other guests leave to go elsewhere. There were fruit flies at my table and they were also very noticeable behind the bar. Furthermore, I had issues adding the bill to my room bill, despite deliberately ensuring I put through a pre-authorisation when checking-in. The bar manager sent me back out to reception, whereby I had to queue and explain what had happened to the receptionist, and the very nice receptionist advised there should have been no issue. The pillow's in the executive room I booked were the worst I'd experienced for quite some time. The next morning, my card stopped working after breakfast, therefore I had to queue again for more than ten minutes to get it re-validated. The reason for this delay was short staffing, and there was a lady in front of me raising a complaint and requesting to cancel her remaining night due to the poor service levels. I'd recommend the gym, it's very well equipped, and I would stay in Clayton Cardiff Lane on a regular basis for business, if it weren't for the previous comments.

It was alright…
The hotel overall was ok, however there were a few issues. The bathroom was a bit tired, and didn’t have shower gel you could use (if you want to use the hotel’s). There was no fridge in the room and no water provided. The restaurant was closed for most of the visit (barring breakfast), which meant a room service order was a comedy of errors. That having been said, my order when it arrived was very good, the breakfast was very good too (although could do with a carb option on the hot buffet). The staff were all very polite, professional and helpful.

Disappointed room, great breakfast good location
The reception staff were always very friendly but the accomodation was not great, the room wasn't cleaned properly , the shower gel container was broken, the curtain pull wand was also broken. The room wasnt up to the standard it should have been. The breakfast was great, and the location was good too.

Nice hotel with good staff. Did have a problem when dinning one evening. Waited ages for our order to be taken and for meals to be delivered to table. Had to complain to waiter but told short of staff.. When we finished we had to find someone so we could pay for meal and go.. Not impressed at all..!!!!

A solid property in the center of Dublin. It is in decent shape and you won't be disappointed to stay here. It is well-located and features a good breakfast. This is a property to use as a "home base" not as a "destination."

This is a very nice place to stay. It is walkable to the Temple District. There isn't a lot of shops and food close to hotel, but their bar/restaurant is very nice.

Okay hotel in a great location
I had a good stay at this hotel, but with better service, it could have been great. The room wasn't cleaned and refreshed daily to a good standard. For the price, I expected more attention to detail. I also experienced inconsistent service at the fitness centre.

No Air-conditioning in the rooms
The hotel did not have an AC (air conditioning) and it was uncomfortable in the room, we had to open up the windows and sometimes the outside noise is loud. The hotel restaurant need to expand their limited option.

OK, but could have been much better.
Location was very good, close to the Convention Centre, with good transport links to the rest of the city. We were happy to check in immediately upon arrival. We think we were allocated a disabled room. We had no bath and the shower had no tray just a roll in style. The shower itself was old, not very powerful. The ceiling needed a good refresh as there were damp spots. The toilet had no lid and the brackets holding the seat were broken. Bed was comfortable but the lack of air conditioning meant the room was very warm at night - the fan provided didn’t help too much. During the first day we left the window open to try and cool it down BUT unfortunately we must have been above the kitchen and when we returned the bedroom stank of fried food. Service at the bar was very poor - Slow, inattentive, and reactive - so much so that we didn’t go back after the first night. Bit frustrating that we ordered a specific gin, only to be told it was not available but then continued to be billed for it. Breakfast was very good and excellent value for money, but the breakfast room itself also seemed quite dated. We only went for breakfast once and it was at the end of service so we were pushed in one corner whilst they set up for lunch service. The floor was filthy, lots of food left lying around. I don’t think the hotel is value for money and unlikely we would return.

This was a very mediocre experience for me. After flying overnight from another country I arrived in the morning. I asked if it was possible to have an earlier check in than 4p and was rudely informed that there was “no possible way”. I then sat in the libby for 4 hours eventually noticing that other guests were checking in early. I decided to inquire again, but this time with a different person about early check in and she said that my room was indeed ready. I have stayed at other hotels that take your number and call you if your room becomes ready earlier than expected. This would be a nice courtesy especially for guests traveling from abroad who may arraive at odd times. The room was just ok, lots of stains on the carpet made it look shabby. I wouldn’t choose to stay there again.

Review I was very disappointed with the hotel for several reasons: There is no AC! I stayed there in the beginning of September 2023 and it was around 27 degrees outside, and felt much warmer in the rooms, where windows can only be opened to a hand sized crack. A small, portable electric fan. From the cheapest kind, was the only relief offered, the corridor smelled from humidity. Another item that do not stand with a 4 star hotel is the false sense of a hotel swimming pool. We went for a swim in 3 different occasions, the pool was dominated by kids taking a swimming lesson. We were told that a swimming school is renting the pool and all guests are only allowed in a single, very narrow lane. So a real more accurate description would be: the hotel guests may use a public pool that is used by a swimming school in the afternoon and evening (weekends included). Other disappointment is absence of a fridge (this has become standard across North America). Last, while the staff we never rude, most interactions left me with a bad taste, as if nobody wanted to make an extra step to assist, it they could decline a request or just refer me to someone else who declined it. To be fair- the location is excellent for people coming to the conference center. Walking distance to the main tourist attractions, public transportation, yet not in the middle of the pubs scene. I am definitely listing Dublin as a destination to revisit, but have scratch The Clayton off!
