Barely a stay. Checked out 1/2 hour after check in it was that bad.
At check in, I was dictated about a load of rules the hotel has in place.
I was told I would have to stay in my room until my time slot for drink or food. I couldn’t have both. When I asked what the time slot was, I was told I had to book but it was fully booked. I might be lucky to get a seat at last orders (8.45) but had to be out the restaurant by 9.00.
Having stayed in a few Dublin hotels over the last week, I questioned these rules as being bizarrely over the top compared to other hotels. Apparently because I’m English, I wouldn’t know the current rules and regulations in Ireland.
When I questioned why these rules hadn’t been put on your website or Expedia, I was told that it wasn’t her job to do that. I explained had these been on your website, I wouldn’t have booked to stay. When I asked if I had to stay as I felt these excessive rules and limited timings meant the stay was almost mis sold, and I felt quite uncomfortable with the treatment by this check in member, I was told ‘take it up with Expedia because we won’t be doing anything’.
1/2 hour later, I returned to reception and told the same person (who was at this stage talking to a manager) that I wouldn’t be staying the night. Neither of them even asked why. The check in girl, I wasn’t surprised by but I expected the manager would’ve said something.
I then checked in to the Carlton. Which was great in comparison!
