Unfortunately bad experience

Posted Oct 22, 2017
Did not have a great stay at this hotel, despite high hopes! Checked in (after waiting in line to one check-in staff) and got into a dirty room. Ants we’re crawling around the complimentary chocolate, and smudges on the bed and sink suggested the room hadn’t been cleaned. In the morning, breakfast was great but there was a bird flying around the dining room. Overall, hotel looks nice on the outside but is missing some major key components to being a nice stay.

Sublime

Posted Oct 17, 2017
Pros: Location, design and the most comfortable bed we've ever slept on!
Location: 15 mins walk from the old town which is perfect, as that gets v busy. Worth trying Lapad or Gruz nearby for walks and dinner etc.
Lovely location 15 mins walk away from the busy Old Town, so you really get a chance to chill-out and relax. Stunning views of the sea from the balcony, steps into the sea from the pool area, and indoor pool and sauna, hammam etc are exquisite. Mostly a business hotel the week we stayed, so it was beautifully quiet even though the hotel was fully booked, guests were busy with conferences while we enjoyed long breakfast buffets from the amazing selection and wandering around the hotel in peace!

Three nights in a beautiful City

Posted Oct 7, 2017
Pros: Big towels Comfortable bed Beautiful views
Cons: Food lacks imagination in the buffet Transport shuttle to the old town (free) would be a huge draw card
Location: Old town amazing
Hotel at first glance is nice, the views from the room spectacular. Most staff pleasant and speak english well. Our room was spacious but bathroom a bit tired, the floor whilst probably clean looks dirty and shower over bath not suited to older guests such as ourselves. Don’t bother with the buffet in the evenings it is over priced and awful food, we arrived at 15 mins after opening and the food was cold, my fish was dry and tasteless. We left hungry after paying nearly 500 Croatian Kuna. The meals in the bar area on lobby level are quite good, but when advertising a Caesar salad with anchovies make sure you actually put some in! The location was good but if we were to ever return we would choose either an apartment in the old town (may be challenging with luggage though) or the Hilton which is easy walking distance to the old town.

Great location with sea views

Posted Oct 7, 2017
Pros: Location excellent, public spaces all well maintained and spacious. Rooms good sizes.
Cons: Housekeeping a little smarter in thinking ahead in provisions - we were a triple room but provisions were all for two so had to ask for more each time
Location: 15-20 minute walk to the old town. Hilly, and occasionally narrow pavements alongside a fairly busy road but safe and with some good views.
Great hotel location, good and well maintained public spaces, many with great views of the sea. Our room (twin with sofa bed to turn into a triple room) was well presented with sufficient storage and other space. For a twin it would have been very spacious with a seating area. Balcony/terrace had sun in the morning and a view over the bay although Dubrovnik old town is hidden. Rooms well soundproofed from each other. We were on floor 9 - for this floor bear in mind that if you want to lie in and you are a light sleeper you may be disturbed by chairs and tables scraping in the dining area above (from about 6.30am till 11pm). The housekeeping staff were not quick at noticing that there were three in the room so pillows, cups/glasses and consumables were often a bit short but were provided quickly upon asking. 15/20 minute walk to the old town, bear in mind that it is along a busy road so take care with children, and also it is hilly so anyone with mobility issues would probably need to take one of the regular buses instead. Breakfasts were excellent and buffet style. Tours booked at the hotel were a good rate with no significant markup from online prices.

Best of Both Worlds

Posted Oct 6, 2017 on Hotels
This hotel is ideally located only a 20min walk from the busy old town of Dubrovnik, yet it is a peaceful place to relax in at the end of the day. As the Rixos Libertas is set into the cliffside the views are stunning. Most, but not all, of the rooms have sea views and balconies. The hotel is west facing, so some balconies get more sun than others, be sure to specify what your preferences are when booking. Even when in shade, the balconies are lovely and the sounds of the sea lapping against the rocks is very relaxing. There is lots to choose from at the breakfast buffet, both hot and cold, and in an area large enough to accommodate everyone. The evening themed buffets are also good value, the desserts are particularly hard to resist, but lunch options in the lobby bar are limited and expensive. The lunch menu at the pool bar is better, but it's still hard to find a small snack at an affordable price if you are leaving room for dinner later on. If your priority is to be near the pools, spa, and sunloungers then ask for a lower floor. If you prefer to be near the restaurants and the lobby then the higher floors are better. Similar to the restaurants in town, the bar serves local wines which are full-bodied and high in tannins. Well known brands of spirits are easy to find, but not wines from other countries. Believe the guide books that say to visit the Dubrovnik walls early, the paths can be narrow in places.
