Disappointed in this Red Roof Inn

I usually try to stay at Red Roof Inns because they are a good chain and made the reservation for the Dumas RRI through Expedia. When I arrived on the 19th, the evening clerk couldn't find my reservation. He said I would have to rebook the room. I didn't have the reservation number at hand and, since I was tired, I went ahead and paid again. My wife called shortly thereafter with the reservation number and the clerk finally found the reservation, but because I'd already paid (again), he first had to call his manager, then said we'd have to take up the problem with Expedia as it was "their fault." This clerk was inept and lazy.
The next morning when I tried to shower, there was no hot water, no matter how long I waited.
I stopped at the front desk to tell them this, but the clerk was busy and could only apologize half-heartedly.
While I usually like RRI's and find their pet policy friendly and useful, this RRI had almost no green areas nearby for pet relief.
From now on, I will stay in Amarillo at the RRI there. I have never had any of these kinds of issues there or in Lubbock.
