No one knew what they were doing

Posted Feb 9, 2017
The staff was nice, but the first key they gave me was to an occupied room, surprise. The second key was to an unmade room. The third key was finally to a clean room. When I checked out the staff tried to overcharge me and had to call their own customer service to make the computer system work. The building is out of date, carpet frayed, ceiling peeling.

Disappointed in this Red Roof Inn

Posted Dec 6, 2016
Pros: Not much
Cons: Hiring evening clerks who know how to find reservations and having hot water would help.
Location: na
I usually try to stay at Red Roof Inns because they are a good chain and made the reservation for the Dumas RRI through Expedia. When I arrived on the 19th, the evening clerk couldn't find my reservation. He said I would have to rebook the room. I didn't have the reservation number at hand and, since I was tired, I went ahead and paid again. My wife called shortly thereafter with the reservation number and the clerk finally found the reservation, but because I'd already paid (again), he first had to call his manager, then said we'd have to take up the problem with Expedia as it was "their fault." This clerk was inept and lazy. The next morning when I tried to shower, there was no hot water, no matter how long I waited. I stopped at the front desk to tell them this, but the clerk was busy and could only apologize half-heartedly. While I usually like RRI's and find their pet policy friendly and useful, this RRI had almost no green areas nearby for pet relief. From now on, I will stay in Amarillo at the RRI there. I have never had any of these kinds of issues there or in Lubbock.

Great room. No charge for pets which is huge for us. Comfortable beds, nice tv. No hairdryer though. I had my own so no big deal for me. Close restaurants- right next door.

Pet Odor Ruined It

Posted Nov 8, 2016 on Hotels
Even though we travel with 2 Chihuahuas, we still expect the accommodations to be clean, odor free, and pet stain free. The room was obviously used for guests with pets because the urine smell was strong, there were stains and wet areas on the carpet (not from cleaning it either). One of the mattresses was so strong of urine, we could not / would not sleep on it. Never again!

Hard Bed

Posted Oct 31, 2016 on Hotels
Pros: The front desk clerk was very friendly and attentive upon check-in. Cons: The bed was hard as a rock, literally. It felt like we were sleeping on just a boxspring. I'm pretty sure the floor would have been more comfortable. Noise traveled through the walls very easily. There was a fair amount of construction dust, rubble, mess, etc from the renovations. Breakfast was adequate but lack luster.
