There was a film shoot going on while we were there, but the staff made sure we were comfortable and looked after. The suite was lovely, and the view spectacular.

Location, location!

Posted May 21, 2017
Pros: The location and the restaurant, which we were told is not part of the hotel.
Cons: Comfort of beds, linens, lighting and definitely consider making some rooms pet free.
Location: I only spent a night and it doesn't look like there's much to do there.
You pay for the view because other than that, the one bedroom are spacious but rather disappointing. The bed was not comfortable and the linens smelled like soap, which was nauseating. One of the previous guests must have dropped perfume on the bathroom counter because it reeked. We thought we were booking a little piece of luxury but it was nothing like that, and we still paid $200/night. I should have known better when I found out that the entire place was pet friendly. Matter of fact, the hallway smelled like wet dog - ugh. I would not book this hotel again if I had to return to Cowichan Bay, which is unlikely.

Stella, Thank you for taking the time to submit your review. I'm sorry that we didn't meet your expectations. Getting the perfect mattress that meets everyone's expectations is a serious challenge that every hotel faces. Although we are a pet friendly location, we do have certain floors that are designated "Pet Free" however we cannot prohibit service animals for the disabled. I'm sorry that you feel that you will not return to Cowichan Bay. The relaxed, laid back atmosphere is something the community strives to achieve for our visitors, but it isn't for everyone. Thank you for staying with us.

A very enjoyable overnight stay. Staff extremely professional and polite. Wonderful restaurant on site offering an assortment of choices. Local restaurants in walking distance. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Great location on the beach!

Posted May 8, 2017
Pros: Quaint setting close to beach front shops and restaurants.
Cons: Need to get rid of the tube TV's and get some flat screens !
Overall great location close to Duncan but quietly removed. In- house restaurant food very good!

Beautiful waterfront location

Posted May 5, 2017
The waterfront location is beautiful. The property itself needs attention. I would stay here for the location though if details drive you crazy this might not be for you. Little things, the smoke alarm hanging by wires, the coat hook on the back of the door hanging out, missing trim. Every room has its own wifi SSID. This means if you want to connect to the wifi from the lobby, workout room, lounge, or your room they each have a unique network name and password. What a pain.

Jason, You will be pleased to know that we are in the process of installing a state of the art, property wide wifi system with the help of our friends at Shaw Cable. When it is completed, you will be able to log in and move from the lobby to your room to the restaurant with uninterrupted wifi service! We are also in the midst of a long term renovation plan, and unfortunately, demand means that we have to put into service partially completed rooms. While unsightly, please be assured that the rooms are completely safe and the partially installed smoke alarms are functioning properly. they're just not a pretty as they will be when installation is complete. We hope to have this phase of the renos completed shortly, as the busy summer season is almost upon us. Thank you for sharing your experience. Sincerely, Rob G.

I'm sorry that you were inconvenienced while we had to close the access to the pool area. We had very little notice of the closure and fortunately is was only unavailable for 6 days. We hope that you will give us another opportunity. Thank you, Rob G.
