Upmarket hotel in historic village settingPosted Feb 23, 2018
Pros: Welcoming friendly owners who obviously know their business. Excellent breakfast and very good food on offer in the restaurant.
Cons: The rooms are well furnished and the owners are in the process of improving on the minor details that have to be dealt with since their ownership.
Location: Wonderful village location with so much to do close by and within the Exmoor National Park.
We spent three nights at this hotel and from start to finish experienced a friendly professional attitude from all concerned. Upon arrival we were shown our room which was very nice but also offered a free upgrade which we accepted. Another very nice room but bigger and with better facilities.

A lovely stay. Despite the awful weather we felt comfortable and relaxed in the beautiful room. Best night sleep in ages!

Wonderful place to stayPosted Jan 5, 2018
Pros: Very friendly, courteous and helpful owners and staff; the entire team create an extremely welcoming atmosphere.
Cons: Difficult to think of anything that needs improvement.
Location: This part of Somerset is beautiful. Highlights include Dunster itself, Watersmeet, Lynmouth, Porlock Weir, Lynton and Valley of Rocks.
Only had time for a one-night stay, but based on that experience will definitely stay at this hotel next time I am in the area.
Great breakPosted Dec 6, 2017 on Hotels
Hotel was in a convenient location for castle, and relaxing break for my wife and myself. The hotel was quiet as the previous day Dunster had just finished the candlelight procession. We were given an upgraded room and had individual service.
Our stay at Dunster Castle HotelPosted Nov 8, 2017 on Hotels
It is a very friendly hotel. Our problem was that the room was very small - really a single - and the bathroom was unheated and cold so the towels never dried. But with a better room it would have been ideal.
Top Notch Accommodation.Posted Nov 7, 2017 on Hotels
Wow wow wow. What a fabulous place to stay. John Lisa and all their staff made us feel so welcome. The position right in the centre of town is perfect, the food was first class, my steak on the Friday night was to die for. All the rooms have been beautifully refurbished, I really can’t recommend this hotel highly enough, we’ve already booked return trip next year!!
Dunster weekend break.Posted Sep 27, 2017 on Hotels
We were made very welcome on arrival, the hotel is splendid with clean comfortable rooms and a comfy bed. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, breakfast is very good and we would recommend dining in the restaurant as the food and selection are top notch. The hotel is a two minute walk to Dunster Castle which is well worth a visit. Overall we had a really special weekend, we would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to visit this area.
Quirky and interestingPosted Sep 11, 2017 on Hotels
Dunster Castle hotel is a small and quirky hotel on the main street, very close to the castle. We had booked a basic room, on the basis that we wouldn't be in it much - however, it was very small and quite hot, so we upgraded to Dower - lovely. Could only have that for 1 night then moved to Dovecote - across the driveway in the old stables - very quirky and a bit eccentric, but in a good way. Despite its proximity to the street we weren't disturbed at all Staff very helpful and polite, good breakfast and dinner also good. Dunster lovely

Lovely hotel staff and location. Room disappointing. Far too small for a double and price
