Comfortable hotel in a great location

Posted Oct 12, 2017
Pros: Location; neighborhood feels safe. Comfortable bed
Cons: Larger room
Location: Walking distance to DuPont Circle and the Mall. Great variety of good restaurants within walking distance.
I was here on business for two nights. The location, right across the street from the University of California DC Center, could not have been more convenient.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE STAFF RUINED EXPERIENCE

Posted Oct 11, 2017
Pros: Rooms were clean and it was a good location
Cons: Food and beverage staff needs a MAJOR attitude change. They were rude, incompetent and made the experience at the hotel not fun at all.
The bellmen and front desk staff were very kind and professional. The people working food and beverage were rude and truly terrible. On our first day, the person delivering our room service order would not take no for an answer when trying to enter our room. He told her repeatedly not to come in because I was undressed but she did anyway. Her excuse when she walked in on my without clothes was "I am a girl too." Then just a few minutes later someone tried to enter the room again. Luckily we had the guard on the door. The next night, we asked if the rooftop bar was open and they told us yes. We went up just to take a quick look and a picture. When we got off the elevator, we were told it was closed. I asked if we could take a quick look and one picture and was told yes. Not 30 seconds later, the bartender screamed across the restaurant for us to "Get out of here. We are closed!" I have never been spoken to so rudely in my life. Then the following morning when we called to inquire about our complimentary champagne that came with our room, the food and beverage staff acted like they had no idea what we were talking about. Twenty minutes on the phone later and the champagne finally arrived. Not even worth all the effort to get it! Rooms were clean. Bathroom are a bit outdated and the air conditioning in our room did not work great.

Nice hotel

Posted Oct 6, 2017
The hotel was pretty much kept up nicely. You can tell where some minor repairs were made. Didn't have many channels to choose from to watch tv. I believe they charged too much on items for them not to be a Fivestar hotel.

Poor effort from staff to improve experience

Posted Oct 4, 2017
Broken air con in room which couldn't be fixed first night due to late check in but were never told about it being broken, Had to remind staff three times to fix it which meant staying in room to wait, waited nearly two hours after third phone call Aircon got fixed and broke 15 minutes later and I had to make the suggestion to the staff we move room they never suggested themselves, They provided two towels each day despite 4 guests staying Overall was just ok, room was small and beds really small

Perfect location for DuPont circle venues.

The staff was very warm and welcoming. Checking in was very easy. The location was great and overall the hotel was very nice. The only thing I didn't love was the size of the bathroom, too small in our room.

clean rooms, friendly staff, great location!

Posted Sep 29, 2017
Pros: I loved the location. The restaurant was good, although it felt a little overpriced.
Cons: better internet reliability would be helpful.....
Location: so close to the spectacular Logan Circle neighborhood, and equally convenient for the National Geographic Museum and the Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery
Anytime you arrive at a hotel at midnight and are greeted with a smile, it's a good sign. We were weary from traveling all day, so a friendly face at the front desk was good to see. The room was clean and well laid out, the view didn't suck, and the overall venue was very good. The noise level was loud at times with the restaurant below, sirens (beyond their control, I know), and random street noise, but in a weird way, it lulled me to sleep. I love that I was able to open the window for fresh air. Perhaps not the best choice for business travelers who need a reliable internet connection (basic was free, upgrade cost money), as basic was unreliable.

Thank you so much for staying at the Beacon Hotel, we are elated to hear that you had a great stay. Traffic downtown D.C. can be quite vexing during rush hour.
