Historic hotel walking distance to everything

Posted Dec 12, 2017
Family suites are great, lots of room. The location couldn’t be better. The entire historic district is in walking distance.

Location: Great location. Can walk around town right out of hotel doors.
The rooms are beautifully appointed with antique furnishings.

Disappointed

Posted Dec 7, 2017
Carpet in lobby was being replaced. Furniture piled up. Had to step over carpet rolls and dodge workmen. Cannot comment on the rooms. We stayed at the Strater.

Hotel with historic character

Pros: See above
Cons: Too hot in the room
Location: See above
Very friendly and helpful staff. Great downtown location. Love the antiques and sitting rooms in the lobby. Very secure with great parking which is free. The room was very clean with real glasses for drinking and wine glasses! The reason I didn’t rate it higher was bc it was too warm in the room and you can’t cool it down. I would come back and I highly recommend the General Palmer

I love this hotel! My family stayed here every year when I was growing up and I'm so happy that I now get to bring my husband and kids here.

Beautiful hotel with character and charm

Posted Oct 30, 2017
Pros: location in downtown durango, elegance and comfort and the 'old school' elevator was a fun experience
Cons: a new couch in room 314
It was great. The only one thing to change in the room that we stayed in, it was one of the murphy bed rooms so the television was on the side of the top of bed. We had no problem watching television from the couch except the couch has been sat upon by so many people that it is not very comfortable. A new couch would make the room comfort an excellent.

Historic Hotel

The General Palmer Hotel is an historic hotel right near the rail station and downtown restaurants and shops - ideal! for us as we enjoyed the steam train to Silverton.
