I stayed here for one night jn the middle of May. Normally I tend to stay in the same accommodation during a stay in a city but when I decided to visit Durban as part of a South African trip I fancied a whole day in the Berea and the rest of my stay on the beach and the areas outside Durban. This property is an old colonial house split into spacious and beautifully appointed guest rooms. The owners have done well to maintain a colonial feel to the entire location and the guests have access to beautiful and relaxing sitting rooms and reading areas, a verandah style breakfast area, a compact and attractive pool area and on honesty bar set up like an old style English pub. Colonial style did not mean a lack of modern amenities and free wifi, flat screen TV and air con was available. Breakfast buffet was very good, with cooked breakfast prepared and brought to me. This really is a beautiful guest house with a very relaxing feel to it and a high level of creature comforts. There are lots of dining and drinking options nearby. Although somewhat removed from the centre of the city, this is no issue if you have your own transport or wish to use the cooler Berea as your base in Durban.

From the minute I stepped through the door to the moment I left I was made to feel incredibly welcome, even the house cat joined me around the pool. Easy access to the beach, just a few minutes walk. Umhlanga village is a short taxi ride away but I felt the taxi was expensive for the distance at ZAR70 each way. Included breakfast, freshly cooked to order was amazing and certainly set you up for the day. Looking forward to seeing you again soon.
