Booked a family room for 2 adults and 2 kids, aged 5 and 3. We were unaware on booking and disappointed to find out that the swimming pool times were very restricted for kids especially during easter holidays. Would not recommend the hotel for staying over with children.
Very nice hotel lovely out look The room was a bit shabby in places for a junior suite lots of marks on paintwork Humming noise from air conditioning throughout the night
The Avenue Inn is a restored public house with outstanding food and great service. Because it was a public house, some of the spaces are cramped and have low ceilings. But the Village of High Shircliffe, is close to Durham making it easy to access the city.

I booked the honeymoon suite for my daughter and son in law to stay after their wedding. They were both very impressed and just a shame they couldn't have stayed longer.

We were going to a gig, our Sons band were playing and we were given good directions to the venue. Very good night ‘s sleep, ...
Superior Chalet with kitchenette and laundry facility. Quiet and rustic. Wake up to friendly chickens at your door. Good rooms and bathroom. Lovely home cooked breakfast in Conservatory. I’d come back for a longer stay.
Great experience staying in a 14th century hotel . Staff were very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately there was great demand for kippers and we we missed out but the staff were efficient and our experience could not have been better.
