DisappointingPosted Oct 23, 2015
Pros: Staff friendly. good location for us
Location: Only minutes off A1\M1, 10 mins from National Rail Museum Shildon which is small overflow from York.
Room was very small and felt cramped. The bed was too short our feet were hanging out. Covers missing off shower taps. Full Breakfast £12.50 but on our deal it was £10 each tere was no butter just sunflower spread. service was quite slow, didn't get what we ordered. Had much better for £5 at hotel in Gretna previous week.

Wonderful hotel - perfect for quiet weekend awayPosted Oct 2, 2015
Pros: the rooms are quaint and mostly nicely kitted out
Cons: the bathroom was a bit sparse, and could have done with a face cloth, a soap and some more toiletries for the bath etc
Location: great location, great for walking around the area
enjoyed the 3 days and 2 nights there, rooms are old fashioned but that's what's charming about it, loved it

The hairy bathroomPosted Aug 26, 2015 on Hotels
I dont ask for much from a hotel but a clean bathroom is something i thought came as standard. There were hairs all over the bath, sink and floor that should have been noticed before i got there. The food in the restaurant is over priced and i got dive bombed all the way through my meal by huge black fly's. Comfy bed though.

Nice hotel shame about the roomPosted Aug 24, 2015
I know how Harry Potter feels now, room was like a cupboard and the ensuite unbelievable if I had been a big lady I would never been able to use the facilities....... Very disappointed not value for money

BofPosted Aug 23, 2015 on Hotels
Les rideaux étaient sales, le débit de la douche insuffisant et il y avait un bruit de moteur continu extérieur énervant même les fenêtres fermées.

Good service, nice locationPosted Aug 23, 2015 on Hotels
Stayed for two nights. Very helpful and pleasant staff especially when phoned to say would be arriving very late. First night no problems; second morning fire alarm went off at 7.30am and woke us up and also shower pressure was non-existent and water was cold! Decent enough breakfast, staff very friendly and helpful at breakfast. Would have liked offer of small refund or something complimentary due to those problems but generally good. Swimming pool and jacuzzi area also good. Maybe a little over priced but fairly happy all the same, despite small issues.

WOW! Beautiful HotelPosted Aug 19, 2015 on Hotels
This hotel has the WOW factor and we could not believe that this is only classed as a 3 star! The staff are very helpful and polite and nothing is too much of a problem The hotel is amazing.... lovely old building that has had modern extensions attached to cater for weddings, nice restaurant that has a conservatory looking out over the extremely well kept golf course. We sat watching the golfers and squirrels whilst we ate our hearty breakfast Our room was Suite 8 - Superb! Looked right down the 9th/18th hole, with a 4 poster bed in the main bedroom... very enjoyable The Leisure club is ideal too, gym with most of the things you would need, nice pool, very warm Jacuzzi and nice steam and sauna for complete chillaxing. We didn't use the Spa however they did do reasonably priced treatments and spa days The extra special factor that we liked, was the Stables sports bar..... Unique in so much that it was separate to the hotel and offered a local bar experience.... Kids loved the pool table and darts after we had enjoyed nice bar food on both nights of our stay... I even got to watch the footy on the second night on the nice big TV We will definitely return to this hotel, it is a hidden gem Thanks for a great couple of nights Tony & Family

Good hotelPosted Aug 14, 2015 on Hotels
Good hotel with excellent facilities, the bed in the room was not the most comfortable which was disappointing considering the rest was excellent with nice grounds.
