Good hotel for access to city - quiet at night

Posted Aug 21, 2016
Pros: Location
Cons: Car parking expensive- no alternative parking nearby so had to pay it
Location: River, city, theatre, cinema, cathedral, castle, shopping
Stayed after a wedding. Room fine - river view great! Lovely and quiet too. Bed comfy. Bar prices expensive. Good choice for buffet breakfast but would have preferred cooked to order.

Great Hotel near Durham University

Stayed two days. Staff was friendly and the location best suited for the Durham Univesity. Taxi to the university +- £6. Ideal for business.

Great hotel for staying in Durham

Posted Aug 12, 2016
Modern stylish hotel in Durham with great amenities, friendly professional staff and superb views of the river, castle and cathedral from a superior room. Breakfast was great with a good choice of what to eat although a little expensive to be honest but most hotels do seem to 'charge' somewhat these days. Car parking was easy, hassle free and affordable for Durham. Great access to the city centre via the paths and bridges. 5 minutes and you're in the city centre for bars and restaurants. Would gladly stay here again as its a great base for exploring Durham, The Lakes and Northeast generally as it has easy access to the roads, railway and Newcastle airport is only 40 minutes away.

Good position for city cente

Posted Aug 11, 2016
Pros: Position
Cons: The rooms could do with an upgrade in my opinion
Location: Great bars and restaurants and overlooking the river
We have stayed here a few times before and the location is excellent for access to the city centre particularly bars and restaurants. We were disappointed with our room allocation this time which had a view of the car park, we also had to ask to move rooms as the first one had a nasty smell, the relocated room was not as high a standard either The staff were helpful enough but I feel they could have done more

Thank you for your feedback, I am sorry to hear you had an issue with the rooms on this occasion. I do take your comments on board. To guarantee a river view I would recommend our Superior Rooms for extra amenities and the view. I do hope to welcome you back in the future. Kind Regards, Meggan

Not very cosmopolitan

Posted Aug 11, 2016
Pros: Staff
Cons: The dinner menu and food quality. Breakfast was good.
This wasn't up to what I expect of a Radisson, though the staff are very helpful.

Great hotel very close to city centre.

Posted Aug 10, 2016
Pros: Within walking distance of shops, restaurants and places of interest. Nice outlook to river. Lovely spa facilities and helpful friendly staff.
Cons: The restaurant is a bit soul-less. The menu / food was good and very reasonably priced. A few specials would be good in a hotel of this standard.
Location: Crook Hall, gardens and tearoom is well worth a visit. The cathedral is also good to visit. The castle was closed during our visit unfortunately.
Very comfortable two day city break. I would recommend the hotel. The only slight disappointment was the restaurant, which I would have expected to be better in a hotel of this class, or at least offered some higher priced options. I had the omelette for dinner, only because it sounded really tasty with blue cheese, caramelised pears and pecan nuts but it was quite bland. The Caesar salad was covered in croutons of the hard, pre-prepared variety. A few freshly made croutons would have been much better.

Not what I expect from This chain :(

Posted Aug 1, 2016
On arrival the receptionist was surly and failed to give all needed info. She tried to charge us a second time for our room (pre paid). Then we were asked to pay £30 deposit to register a card for room service etc. I have never been asked to do this before and failed to see the purpose of it so declined. The room was pleasantly decorated but many small details missing. Lightning in the room was appalling. The pillows were hard and water was available in the mini bar only ( for almost £3). Only upon checking out were we informed the car parking charge for one night was £8. If I had stayed in a cheap hotel I could have expected these extras. However, this hotel room cost £140. I will not be returning.

The Hotel is very good and the room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. The staff were helpful but had to wait quite a while as the staff were talking to each other or listening to colleagues conversation with guests and there were at least four or more people waiting to be checked in/out.
