Great dog friendly hotel in a beautiful setting. Tricky to find with road closures but that won't be for much longer.
Food was good, only minor niggles.
Bed was a bit hard for me but you can't please everyone. Room was small, but clean and decent size bathroom. Grout needs redone on bath but that's probably an ongoing battle.
A bit over priced for what it was but the staff were friendly and welcoming despite having to deal with some difficult customers.
Lovely walks in the area. Recommend going down to the reservoir for a walk it was lovely.
Lovely pub. We stayed for a nearby wedding. Room was clean and comfy. Breakfast was very organised with a menu provided say before so we could pick what we wanted and the time ready for the following morning.
Area around this place was stunning.
Lovely location. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent food. What’s not to like !!

Used the Derwent Arms while working locally for a couple of days. Good welcoming pub with rooms sociable staff, good food. comfy bed good hot water pressure for shower. if I was being picky id say the shower cubicle although being a standard size it was a tad small for larger people like myself. still perfectly useable though.
Stayed 1 night as was attending a nearby wedding. Room very nice and also available at noon. Reception was extremely friendly and on returning bar staff were also very friendly, and a choice of local beers. Breakfast was excellent nothing was too much for the entire staff.
Great place the staff are so friendly and helpful even cooked me an early breakfast. The food was lovely and a comfy bed couldn’t fault the place and will definitely be back
We stayed 2 nights 2 rooms. Lovely hotel and exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were clean and the bed s really comfy and the full English breakfast excellent. We did it dine there but the amount of covers they had says it all that it is an great place for dining which we do next time. Great location for derwent waters Keilder and high force falls.
Excellent stay, a real gem of a find. Staff couldn’t have done more to help including purchasing a new travel cot and bedding prior to our arrival. The room was clean and smelt of fresh paint. We enjoyed a steak n the bar on our first night which was five star.
Overall we were very impressed with the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. Safety measures were of a high standard , rooms very comfortable and food was very good.
My family stayed at the Derwent Arms and we couldn't have asked for more. We had the warmest of welcomes from Andy and the team and immediately felt very at home. The pub has recently been refurbished and looks fantastic, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the location is great for exploring the beautiful Durham and Northumberland countryside. The cooked breakfast was lovely and we were sorry to go! Will definitely be back.
Bedroom 102, bed linen and towels clean. Spider webs under bed and thick dust on top of wardrobe should be removed. Dinning room windows must be cleaned and many big black flies eliminated. Outside, regretfully, the place looks abandoned. This Inn needs some serious cleaning and updating.
This was the most relaxed and homely experience we have ever had in a hotel... the staff made us feel at home and from the bar staff to the chef to the owner the team couldn't do enough to help... loved our break at the punchbowl inn... and will definately be going back...
Best nights sleep in all the places we have stopped do far. Lovely and quiet but near enough to larger places. Only downside is no shop. Would visit again
Great place to stay and eat amazing food! Close enough to walk to Derwent Reservoir. Friendly staff and enjoyed both our evening meals and the full English breakfast
Lovely place .Friendly staff and locals and great food .Room comfortable and had a great nights sleep .Lovely breakfast too .
Very dog friendly .Would definitely stay again.
Lots of stairs to climb with your cases yourself but once in the room it was nicely set out and lovely en-suite, nice bar room downstairs for lovely meal.
