A bit out there but beautiful and worth the detour. Wallabies on the porch in the morning.

Thanks for your kind review we enjoyed having you stay at our retreat you were the perfect guest. We hope you enjoy the rest of your stay in Tassie. Warm regards Peter Lumera
Lumera is a beautiful hidden oasis close to St Mary's. The dirt track and gates leading into the property give a sense of isolation and exclusivity. The view from the chalet on the first day was spectacular over the bays of the East Coast. Once the weather came in the delight of being anywhere in the world in a warm chalet, mist rolling in and the trees cloaked in grey and a wood fire added to the romance and mystery. A welcoming wallaby with a joey was happy to be hand fed. Be warned they are very fickle and will desert you for the next chalet as soon as someone else arrives.
The host, Peter, was very welcoming. It’s location and eco-environment was beyond our expectations. Only niggle was the 9.30 checkout - which we hadn’t realised until we were packing up.

Hi Christine, thanks so much for your kind review, I'm so sorry for the 9.30 check out but we were fully booked the day of your departure otherwise I would have offered a late check out. You were fabulous guests and left your chalet in excellent condition. If you ever stay with us again I hope I am able to offer you a late checkout. Warmest regards, Peter
Beautiful surrounds, cabin was nice. Would have been good to have some recycling options as it was marketed as an Eco Chalet.

Hi Maria,
Thanks for your kind review, we apologise for not having a yellow top recycle bin, we can assure you we do recycle all waste including all your plastic bottles etc. We have a comprehensive waste management program as we deliver all our waste to the local Waste Transfer Station. As we are in a remote location we do not have Council waste pick up services. We do pride ourselves on being one of the few "true Eco" properties now trading for 20 years. Warm regards, Peter and Team

Had a wonderful time - Would love to return
Had a wonderful time here. We stayed one night. There was an amazing balcony overlooking the valley and sea. We sat on the balcony with a bottle of red and cheeses. We then enjoyed a sky full of stars and then enjoyed the fire place.
At breakfast we fed friendly wallabies.
Relaxing and memorable. Would definitely love to come back.

Dear Mark, Thanks for your kind and lovely review and for the fabulous photos. I see you made friends with the locals, they are so cute! You are more than welcome to come back and stay, we look forward to hosting you again in the future.
Warm regards, Peter and Critters
This is an eco-friendly site, with battery backed solar panel, high filtration tank water, 4g cellular reception, the most comfortable bed away from home, and a view to die for.
Truly a credit to the owners, and an experience not to be missed.

From being greeted by the critters (several Bennetts Wallabies) to the kettle already warm and the fire pre-lit, the atmosphere was very inviting. View is spectacular and room very comfortable.

Simple pleasures are the best.
All you need to drink in the view.
Wallabies and wombats.
The wind in the trees.
You can see forever and can travel easily around the coast yet at night you can retreat to a magical eyrie.
A real gem!!
Our stay could not have been better! Our host, Peter, is a truly kind and caring person who definitely added to our wonderful experience. With the private Balcony looking across the stunning view, we did not want to leave at the end of the week! The chalet is so well appointed with a gorgeous combustion heater making the chilly nights warm and cosy. Would highly recommend to any couples looking for a peaceful, tranquil getaway! Thank you.
We had a wonderful stay at Lumera Chalets. The hosts were wonderful and couldn't be more helpful and friendly. This was our highlight of our Tasmania trip.
We booked a 3 night stay here and wished we'd booked longer. The highlights for us were the lovely location and the local wildlife. Sitting out on the private deck enjoying the views and the peace and quiet was absolutely fantastic. We were met on our arrival by some of the local wallabies who seemed very happy when we gave them some of the animal food that had been provided in the chalet! They were regular visitors for the rest of the stay, along with various other animals in the evenings. We booked meals for one evening and they were excellent. These are well worth considering as the other local catering options are very limited.
A beautiful place to stay. Extremely comfortable and fitted out with all you need. Very private, quiet and well situated. Great views with abundant wildlife and a potbelly stove that has the room toasty in minutes! The owners (Peter & Ian) passion for the environment is obvious and commendable.
Facilities: Good, given it is off the grid.; Service: Friendly, Courteous; Cleanliness: Spotless;
loved the 'nature' aspect with local wildlife and the peace and tranquility.
Very peaceful surroundings. The wallabies were very cute and loved being feed. We ordered dinner that night after arriving late afternoon and received a beautifully home cooked meal at a reasonable price. The only small negative would be that you couldn't shave and use a hair dryer as there are no powerpoints. Small price to pay for tranquility.
