Worse experience ever!

Experience was border line robbery. Im trying to check into my room, I hand over $100 bill she gives me my change, then says I also need $50 deposit on a Card. Ok no problem my card was declined I say give me a sec going to my car. When I return frustrated because my other visa card is at home I tell her nevermind I guess I can't cover the $50 she says oh sorry no refunds. Lol no refunds? I never checked in, never received a room key nor signed anything.. "worse experience" La Mesa CA Heritage hotel is a joke

The hotel had easy access to the main freeway.

The hotel requires a $50 deposit, which is supposed to be refunded to you after you check out. I checked out on October 3 and have not received my deposit back. I called the hotel yesterday, & they were unwilling to help, stating "Once you check out of the hotel, the deposit automatically gets reversed back to your card. There is nothing we can do from the hotel."

Pros: It looks nice from the street
Condoms on the ground, a crack pipe in the parking lot, transients looking in your cars, carpet and furniture in the rooms were sticky, a big spot of mold in the carpet, rude staff. The lobby door is locked in the evening. You have to yell through a security window to get a room. They even charge your card $50. extra saying they will return your money if you don't smoke in the room. Could not wait to get out of there and be on our way.

Convenient for me

The hotel was fair. No frills basic offering. The bed was comfortable. The restroom clean and freshly remodeled housekeeping reliable and did a fine job. Breakfast offering was poor. Day old donuts and coffee. If it wasn't so close to my family for visiting I would likely have stayed elsewhere. The pool area closes at 10 pm but noisy kids were playing there well past 10:30.

Only as a last resort

Constant noise and illegal activity. Not very comfortable with a pimp sitting on the staircase 5 feet from my door. Despite my do-not-disturb sign, staff insisted on coming in. They actually TOLD ME they "had" to clean the room. On my second day. Ummm no, I have the right to my privacy. Phone did not work. TV was fuzzy. And did I mention the bed bugs? Everything I brought in my bag was left in their dumpster. My feet and legs are covered in bites. Never. Ever. Staying. Here. Again.

Overpriced

Young Afro-American man that checked me in was a snob, needs to smile at guests that stay with them to make them feel welcomed. TV remote.control didn't work, but the service staff fellow was quick to remedy that. Thank you sir. This motel has a lot of miles on it and was not worth 140/nght for 2 queen beds. Our room smelled like smoke, Expedia didn't ask if we did or did not prefer smoking. Our cothes hung up in the closet, but not worn, smelled like smoke when we got home. We don't smoke. Sheets smelled clean, beds were medium soft, good frwy access. The area is a little shady at night, a 24 hr Taco Shop cadicorner to the hotel, may be helpful to some.

Overpriced

We stayed 2 night paying 100 average. Not worth it. Spiderwebs everywhere. Check in took for ever. Found roaches in the bathroom. Rug smell terrible. Ac tv and furniture very very old.

Too close to highway

Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: outside paint and upkeep grounds. get rid of carpet in rooms and put in tile or flooring, so it keeps clean.
Location: There are some restaurants near by, but it's at the exit to a mayor highway, making it very noisy and having lots of car and foot traffic through lot.
The photos on the internet did not do it justice. The hotel needs some serious upgrades, outside and inside. The paint flaking outside, makes it look very run down. It is very close to the highway, so there is a lot of traffic and noise. The rooms were ok, they seemed clean. The staff was friendly.

This is an average economy hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, though I don't recommend this to anyone needing WiFi as it barely reached beyond the office during our stay. The hotel also has a laundry room, which is good for longer stays. Simple breakfast pastries available in the office was a nice touch, and there are plenty of restaurants around to get something more filling. The location is right by the freeway, which makes it easy to reach, though the entrance is a bit strange due to how it is set up in regards to the road.
