We arrived very late (2 am) after driving for more than 20 hours. We contacted the hotel to let them know that we would be late. They were there to check us in.

Friendly Staff
The Hotel is a good size room and service, the staff (Kevin) helped us when I forget bring our adaptor of phone charger (on site purchase would be 25 euro!!). Overall is good except the 19 euro/night parking charge is too much.

Comfortable Stay
The hotel staff was always available if needed. The room was comfortable, and clean. Room included black out curtains which was great. There is also public transport available within walking distance which was great.

Our stay in Gent was quite wonderful as the city was more beautiful than we expected. The Gent express is within a short bus ride from the city centre and so was worth staying at. The breakfast buffet was excellent and so was the bar. The staff at the front desk were also very helpful with whatever requests we had.

Amazing staff
The hotel was clean and comfortable, but a little basic. The location was OK, but it was quite a wait for a bus into town. What made the trip was the staff - they went out of their way to help us with anything we needed!

Thank you Gary. If it takes to long to wait for the next bus, why not try Tram 4 at the UZ Gent Hospital at walking distance. Alternatively, a taxi is pretty cheap as well in Gent. Ask reception for the best solution any time of the day or evening

It was filthy, we arrived very late so we had no chance to discuss it with management. The carpets were so dirty. The bath was so so dirty. Hairs on the shower curtain and bath. I tried to have a shower but tub was nearly blocked. I would never stay there again...

Exorbitant parking charge (19 EUR per night)
Parking charge is the worst and it is 19EUR per night which is very expensive than a city centre car park. Overall the room was decent and service is good. Breakfast is average. It is continental and not a cooked breakfast. It is near a football stadium and when I went it is a match day. The traffic is horrible and too many fans on the road walking and biking. It would be nicer to avoid on a match day.

Dear guest, thanks for the feedback. It's great to read that you liked the room and service. Parking is indeed at a fee, but it is lower than in the city center and than nearby options. Did you notice that you also get the breakfast free of charge? This certainly adds a lot of value to your stay. Match day is sometimes a bit of a problem but for a limited time before or after the match. Contact reception direct if you need assistance during your travel to the hotel.

Out dated, poor wash room facilities, heating did not work and during storm cold air was coming in. Additional charge for parking cars. Very unpleasant and not usual Holiday Inn experience.

Hi Sid, sorry that you dit not like your stay. Be advised that we are a Holiday Inn Express 3*, and not a 4* Holiday Inn. There is quite some difference in facilities. Parking is at a fee indeed, this is clearly mentioned online and on the car park. At the same moment however, breakfast is offered free of charge so this adds a lot of value to your stay too.

Restaurant Clousure
It was great apart from the hotel restaurant closing on Friday and Saturday- had to go and find somewhere else to eat , was not notified about this when booked.

Great hotel.
The hotel was great, the staff very helpful. The description of the hotel said it had a restaurant however, it was closed all 4 night that we were there. We would not have stayed at the hotel, had we known there was no restaurant.

This property is UNDER CONSTRUCTION. This is something that should really be disclosed online before booking. There is equipment everywhere, and they get to work VERY early in the morning. It makes the old hotel look terrible, too. Shoved into a dirty corner looking run down. Our room was so-so with old carpeting and a musty feel. The air conditioning was confusing to operate, so we couldn't cool down the room very well. The bathroom was nicely updated, though the shower head could be replaced. The breakfast was okay. Made better by the great coffee. Overall, I am disappointed in this property mainly due to the construction right outside my window.

What was unique and at the same time terrible was that the hotel is right in the middle of a construction site and you have to find your way past cranes and machinery to get to reception. It is unsafe, very old and is adjacent to a major freeway. We opted not to stay!

My Trainers were stolen by room service.
The shower water was dirty in our first room and we weren't told we had to move rooms... but the worst thing was room service stole a pair of my trainers. I am disgusted by this and have launched an investigation and won't give up until I get them back or they are refunded.
