A Hotel in Decline

Pros: It's location and friendly reception staff.
Cons: Stop cost cutting and aim for excellence rather than delivering the minimum and focusing on cost cutting.
Location: MCG, Tennis Centre and good restaurants down Wellington Parade. Il Duca is a stand out!
Stayed in the hotel as a result of proximity to the MCG and Tennis Centre which makes it really convenient. However, the hotel is no longer a shadow of its former existence as the Hilton. We stayed in a suite which was roomy and was quite neat and tidy with a big bathroom. However, the little things were missing and gave the impression that cost cutting rather than delighting clients was the key objective of the Pullman on the Park. Examples of those things that irritated included a bar fridge with the only food stuff available - one chocolate bar (a "Kit Kat"); limited room service and, despite a special call to get daily papers and being told that would be fine, none arrived on either morning. Another tell tale sign was that we hardly saw anyone servicing rooms (normally there is a continual inconspicuous presence at other hotels) and the one day we required the room service, it did not occur despite going out during the day and after a phone call requesting room service, we went out for almost 2 hours at 5 pm and when we returned the room had still not been done - room service arrived shortly thereafter and did a cursory job.

So convenient

Stayed here before. Good hotel, helpful checkin staff - very accommodating. Good size rooms & big bed. Very close to MCG and Richmond strip for eating, drinking and shopping. Won't hesitate to stay again.

Great location to MCG

Pros: Close proximity to the MCG and within walking distance to the city and Southbank.
Cons: Hotel is in need of a total makeover....bit dated but this is currently happening.
Location: Great location to stay if going to see a footy match at the MCG...right across the road. The Fitzroy gardens are very close...lovely to walk through.
Nice hotel, close to MCG (we were in Melb for footy) and the city. It's bit outdated but is currently being renovated which is good. Our one night stay was enjoyable. Had a premium deluxe room with view overlooking the MCG on the 19th floor which was great. Very spacious and comfortable....king size bed. The staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful. We arrived earlier than planned and were in our room within 45 minutes which was fabulous....thank you Marcia. Also received a complimentary drink at the bar on the 1st floor which was a nice touch. Tried the buffet breakfast Monday morning but was a bit disappointed...scrambled eggs weren't very nice and some of the fruit - pineapple wasn't very sweet. Good they had the coffee pod machines but alas no instructions as to how to use it. Sorry don't have one of these machines at home...but managed to work it out. Look forward to returning to see some of the renovations complete. Would definitely stay there as so close (right across the road) to the MCG and within walking distance to the city, South Bank and the Fitzroy gardens.

Relaxing weekend away!

Will definately stay here again! Great location, convenient to trams, room nice. Breakfast was amazing! Some renovations to restaurants happening, should be good when done. Very accessible to MCG.

Always stay at thePullman on the Park.

Came down to run Melbourne on Sunday. Always stay at the Pullman on the Park. Although the renovations has caused a bit of upheaval in some areas, and the dust has left its print around the pool area, the staff have kept the place looking as good as possible, and remained polite, and helpful as ever. Considering they have worked amongst mayhem. Full credit to the staff at Pullman on the Park. I can't wait to get back to see the amazing upgrade that is taking place on the ground floor dining, lounge and reception area.

Never stay here again, pathetic condition, dirty

Ants in the room, not cleaned, mini bar and bed had ants on it, when complained to reception they said will get it cleaned but still not done. Lousy staff, extremely noisy renovations, the worst experience in any hotel so far

Pullmann Hotel ... great place to stay

Great view over to the MCG and Tennis Centre from our room. Delicious range of breakfast offerings to suit all tastes. The renovation in the bar area was discreetly screened off from guests. The staff were attentive and very helpful.
