Rude night receptionist

Posted Sep 5, 2017
Pros: Location, convenient parking and well maintained room amenities
Cons: Front office staff should be more tactful in dealing with house guests no matter the situation
We booked 2 units of apartments and on the whole we had a pleasant stay at Mantra on Hay. In fact this was my second stay here as I found from my first stay the facilities and location just nice for our propose. Our stay was briefly marred by the attitude of a night front desk receptionist who obviously was in a bad mood in the early morning of 19 August all because he was the only one around and when our car could not enter the car park as no one responded to the intercom so some of us went to the reception to check. There was no one and despite our shouts no response came from the office. Just when one of us was about the open the latch of the small door into the reception counter to check, he came out from the lift and ignored our explanation and told us not to expect him to be at the counter all night and kicked a fuss about the attempt to enter the office , threatening that he would prosecute if we were to do that again (which he repeated shortly after). All we wanted was to have our car enter the car park as it was about 1.30 am in the morning and only he could open the car park door. What took us aback was his reaction and words of intimidation as we would have accepted it if he explained to us that he was somewhere in the building and cautioned us about trying to unlatch the reception door. Having said that I must say that the other staff we dealt with were helpful and but for this brief bur unpleasant experience our stay here would have been perfect.

Always a pleasant stay

Pros: Large apartment type rooms. Kitchen and laundry facilities.
Cons: Noise from the hotels laundry when staying on the ground floor.
3rd time staying here, like it because you can get separate rooms for your family.

Careful with taxi drivers taking you to incorrect Mantra. Took me to the one on Murray St. instead of asking for Mantra on Hay.

City stay.

Using public transport and within comfortable walking distance of Perth city centre and the bay/ Swan river new developments, we found the hotel smart, clean, well appointed and with friendly and attentive staff. The pool was well kept and restaurant and room service good.

Close to the city, freeway and food outlets. Room was cleaned well, with some wear and tear on couches
