Nice hotel, bad location.

Posted Jun 26, 2017
Pros: Great breakfast.
Location: The only downside was the location. Surrounding neighborhood was not that great.
Sofa bed was on it's last leg. Hotel staff responded quickly when we asked for more towels. Breakfast was great!

I am so sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your stay. Being a few blocks away from the heart of downtown gives us the opportunity to provide our guest with excellent accommodations and outstanding service at a great value in downtown San Antonio. As a small, owner operated hotel, we hope to build lasting relationships with our guests by providing clean, spacious accommodations, as well as exceptional service and amenities at a great value in the downtown San Antonio area. All of our staff members have a genuine interest in each and every guest, making sure their needs are met, and providing excellent service and friendly Texas hospitality. Parking is at a premium in the entire downtown area, and we have leased the covered and fenced area adjacent to our hotel for guest parking, so that our guests have convenient access to their vehicles at all times. Like most hotels in the downtown area, we do charge a nominal parking fee (to pay for the lease) that is billed separately from the room charge, as each is taxed at different rates, this way guests do not have to pay the higher room rate tax on the parking fee. I do apologize that you were not informed about the parking fee while making your reservation. Safe travels, Donna Guest Services

Cozy friendly hotel near Riverwalk

Posted May 10, 2017
Pros: Comfort of rooms, breakfast, pool/hot tub, walking distance to Riverwalk
Cons: Include parking in the stay.
Location: Location was right off the interstate but we had a room on the opposite side so no noise, Riverwalk, Alamo, Shops at Riverwalk, Tower of Americas
The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with any questions that we had. The hotel was easy to get to and within comfortable walking distance to the Alamo and Riverwalk. The pool and hot tub were quite pleasant and nice after long days of walking. Hotel rooms were clean, comfortable and lots of room. Parking at the hotel was $15/day which I believe is for the convenience of being close to the Riverwalk (I've never paid this at other hotels in the past). Overall, I would stay here again if we return to San Antonio.

We sincerely appreciate you providing us with your wonderful comments regarding your positive experience at our hotel. We are glad that we were able to surpass your expectations in every aspect of your stay. We are in fact located right at the corner of I-37 and E. Houston St (AKA The Alamo Exit) and we are very excited that our location was a spectacular choice for you based on the location of the hotel, being only 4 blocks/10 min walk to the River Walk. We hope you will consider our hotel your “home away from home” and your number one choice when returning to San Antonio. Please come again, soon! Thank you again for your comments!

Hotel was okay and the room staff on our floor was very helpful but the desk staff was terrible. The hotel didn't have our reservation (made six months ago) and made little effort to solve the issue. I had to call the travel company who called the hotel and cleared the matter up for us. Comfort Inns has been our go to hotel for some time now but I may have to rethink that.

Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us at Comfort Suites Alamo/Riverwalk. We very much appreciate your positive and ratings and review, as well as the compliment to our staff. Our staff members take great pride in serving our customers and everyone that comes here is a "member of our hotel family.” We know there are unlimited choices of hotels but we are different, as you can't always get that "Texas Hospitality" that we pride ourselves in. This is an owner operated hotel and we want to invite all that want to have a Texas Experience to stay with us. San Antonio has so much to offer all our visitors, from those just around the corner, as well as from far off places. The romance, flavors, sounds and treasures of the city await all those who come to get away from home for a day, a week or a month, and experience the HEART of Texas.

No hot water

Posted Apr 20, 2017 on Hotels
The hotel was ok, not on the River Walk, about a mile away. Check in was nice and the pool and hot tub area was nice. Not a lot of parking, for $15 a nite they could have a larger lot. We parked under the overpass, which was dark. My problem was that we didn't have hot water for the entire 2nd day of our stay. They claimed it was due to the city (what city gives hot water?) but regardless, they did nothing!!! I complained the day it happened and again upon checkout, and they pretty much said too bad. They wouldn't refund any of the price or even the parking fee. When you book a hotel, you are pretty much paying for a nice place to sleep and shower. We only got half of what I payed full price. Finally, they only have one elevator that works so we ended up taking the stairs to get up and down. I read reviews that said the elevator was broken but (naively) assumed they would have fixed that.

Dear Julie, I sincerely apologize for failing to meet and exceed your expectations during your recent stay with us at Comfort Suites Alamo/Riverwalk. We do understand that even though we are only 3 blocks from the Alamo and 4 blocks from the River Center Mall and the River Walk, not all of our guests want to walk, so most of our guests will choose to use the city transit bus/trolley system that is available one block away and runs every 15 minutes from 7 a.m. to 2:30 a.m., or opt for taxi/Uber/Lift service (very reasonable fee) for their return to the hotel. On behalf of the owner I want to apologize for the problem with our hot water service. Unfortunately, due to issues beyond our control, we lost both our main water heater, as well as our back up. Our plumbing contractor worked well into the night to secure parts and get the heaters back online as quickly as possible. Again, I am so sorry for the inconvenience you experience. The owner built this hotel with 2 elevators, to insure that even if there was an issue with one, the other would be in service. We will work with our team to better communicate with our guests in a more professional and courteous manner. We truly do everything possible to provide the best value in downtown San Antonio. We sincerely appreciate your business and your comments. We hope that you enjoyed your time in San Antonio and captured many treasured memories during your visit.

Horrible

Posted Apr 16, 2017 on Hotels
The hotel lost my reservation then told me they did not have a room at all for me. The person at the front desk was extremely rude and not helpful at all. The hotel is actually pretty much under an overpass with signs everywhere stating hide your valuables. You have to cross major roads to get to the Alamo or any restaurants. This Was not as advertised. We left and got a room at a different hotel.

Cons: Get the 2nd elevator fixed
This hotel was excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will be staying here again on our next visit to San Antonio. The rooms were clean and great if one of us wanted to sit up and read and the other watch tv with the separate love seat sitting area. Again, cant say enough about the terrific staff!!!
