Very enjoyable stau

Posted Jan 15, 2017
The junior suite was ideal for a family with two children with plenty of space. The hotel staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. We enjoyed swimming in the indoor pool and the gym facilities are very good. Eating in the restaurant was kid friendly and the food of a high standard. Room service was excellent. Looking forward to visiting the hotel again.

Tired hotel

Posted Nov 7, 2016
Pros: Building is beautiful, location is brilliant. Architecture is breathtaking Breakfast buffet is okay
Cons: Luxury spa is a joke. Pool is tiny and jacuzzi/steam room is shut for refurbishment and we weren't told in advance. Gym is full of old equipment. Hotel was advertised as to have luxury spa and health club? For us this is a very important factor when booking a place and we feel cheated to have spent the money. Room was grand and looks great but bed was very uncomfortable with useless pillows. Two nights of uncomfortable sleep

Splendid public rooms.

Posted Oct 23, 2016
Pros: Relaxing in the public rooms.
Cons: Strange drilling / vibration sounds during the night possibly due to the plumbing!
Location: Just walk from long the front or venture onto beachy head.
Faded elegance in all its glory, well worth a stay here to take in a time past but presented with today's amenities.

Excellent hotel

Posted Oct 9, 2016
Location: Beach front location. Plenty of historic houses nearby.
Comfortable, clean, well appointed and equipped room. Staff are excellent.Very friendly willing and helpful. Food in the Garden Room Restaurant was varied, well presented and tasty. Being able to park our car in the hotel car park within 20 yards of the entrance door was a God send.

Classic

Posted Sep 10, 2016
Pros: Facilities. Quality of rooms. Atmosphere. Quality of dining.
Cons: Little if anything.
Location: Beachy Head. Promenade/ Pier. Town shopping. Theatre.
The Grand always lives up to it's name. Staying here is a pleasure. I understand that nearly ALL rooms have now been updated. "In room" facilities are good-Tea and coffee making(Nespresso type machine) hair dryer/bathroom toiletries, armchairs and coffee tables in all levels of rooms. Times newspaper generally free. Costs often include breakfast, but not always. In house dining is excellent with many areas to sit and enjoy tea/coffee and to relax/read etc. The hotel of course has it's own parking and swimming pool/ snooker room etc. Situated a little further out than some other hotels at the "Beachy Head" end of the main promenade, but with the very flat footpaths well maintained along the seafront, access to the central area around the pier is fairly good. Plenty of seafront benches along the way on which to rest up. So staying at the Grand is not always a problem. Costs at this hotel are not prohibitive and a variety of seasonal offers/packages are nearly always to be found. Why stay anywhere else.

Nice hotel, comfortable sty but very pricey, old fashioned and dated for a 5 star.

Nice hotel next to the beach.

Posted Aug 12, 2016
This hotel is certainly 'grand' and with its many seating areas, maintains true Victorian style. Good location at the quiet end of the sea view road. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms clean & comfortable with all the facilities; tea, coffee, TV and modern bathroom. The Garden Restaurant had ambience and the food was varied and flavoursome; however, service in the evening was at times, slow. The indoor pool is small and too warm for my liking, but outdoor pool lovely. Treatments are available but need to book on arrival to ensure a slot. I would recommend this hotel for those who want to relax; not really suitable for children.
