Cosy Home With Views of Arthur's Seat

3.5-star Edinburgh cottage in Restalrig, near Royal Mile
## Space

Our bright and spacious two-bedroom flat provides an excellent home for a pleasantly memorable stay. With their good sizes and comfortable beds, the bedrooms offer restful times and healthy sleep. Feel free to fully unpack and settle in with our ample storage space as well.

In the spacious living area, you will find a comfortable sofa and a breathtaking view of nature from the tall clear windows. There are also eye-catching pieces like the modern fireplace and stylish decor that bring this space together.

The open-plan fully-equipped kitchen also allows a home-like experience to cook scrumptious feasts, and the conservatory is a great opportunity to get together and enjoy these meals.

The bathroom has a very simple and fresh design with white walls and blue accents. You can take a steaming shower to energise you every morning before you start to explore the city. Towels and toiletries will also be provided.

And of course, let us not forget to mention our well-designed conservatory where you can enjoy the sun and fresh air with a nice cup of tea.

## Access

Guests will have access to the entire property during their stay.

## Interaction

My support team and I will be contactable for the duration of your stay.

## Neighborhood

Resting in the shadow of the Sailsbury Crag and Arthur’s Seat, Meadowbank offers some lovely views, with traditional colonies and tenements characterising most of the built heritage of this district, though there is some development going on in the area, largely due to its desirability. Meadowbank is only a stone's throw away from the foot of the Old Town and the Royal Mile with Holyrood Palace at the foot and the Castle at the top. It has easy access to Leith, Holyrood and Newington- making it a popular area with professionals and young families. It’s also convenient in terms of quality of life, with lots of shops, cafes and a number of parks in the area, including the Queen's Park with two small lochs and many paths to explore, on the flat or up to the top of Arthur's seat, where you can see over to Fife and beyond.

## Transit

Most places are within walking distance of the property.
There is on free street parking.

Edinburgh Airport: From the airport take the Tram or Airlink bus to the final stop. From here the house is a quick taxi ride or you can take the number 26 or 44 bus to Meadowbank and walk round the corner, about 10 minutes, to the house. The number 19 and 34 buses take you to the top of the road and it is only 2-3 minutes down the hill to the house..

Train: The nearest railway station is Edinburgh Waverley. From the station take Lothian Bus number 19 or 34. Alternatively the house is a quick taxi ride away.

Buses: Lothian Buses are the main bus operator in Edinburgh. They offer a great free app that provides route maps, fare information and live bus times. Its a great tool for getting around the city.

## Notes

The property is in the east of the city with easy access to shops and transport within a short walking distance. Maps showing these, and other information are in the property.
It is only a twenty minute drive east to the coast and beautiful beaches and small towns along the south shore of the Firth of Forth. If you don't have a car, the buses that go out of town and along the coast road are only a ten minute walk away at Meadowbank.
If beaches aren't your thing, go inland and explore the beautiful countryside of East Lothian with its ancient castles, more pretty towns, (Scotland's iconic flag originated near the picturesque village of Athelstaneford, visit the heritage centre to learn more, between April and October,) and the wonderful Museum of Flight nearby.
There are lots of country hotels and cafes in East Lothian where you can stop for refreshment. In North Berwick, there is Why Not? a quirky shop with an ever-changing selection of artworks and crafts from local people, a deli and gift stalls, and at the back is a cafe with the most wonderful cakes and the trunk of a tree decorating the space! The Lobster Shack down at the harbour sees people travelling many miles to sample their food! There are several galleries and small shops selling unique gifts, in the High Street. There are also two fabulous beaches at North Berwick, (and several more along the coast at Longniddry, Aberlady, Gullane & Dirleton,) where you can walk for miles and drink in the views and watch the seabirds.

Further afield is the beautiful Borders region, full of history and views and walks, lovely towns and good restaurants.

It is only an hour north by car, over our new Queen's Crossing Bridge, with views of the famous Forth Rail Bridge as you cross, to the fair city of Perth and the start of the Highlands.

Edinburgh has become a tourist magnet at all times of year. It has the fascinating Old Town with its closes, (narrow alleys,) running off the ancient High Street that stretches from Edinburgh Castle set on its rock at the top of the High Street, to Holyrood Palace at the bottom, lived in by many monarchs of Scotland including Mary, Queen of Scots. Visit the Palace and see the room where her secretary, David Rizzio, was brutally murdered in front of her! The Palace is where present day royals stay when they visit Edinburgh.
Then there is the New Town, built between the late 1700s and the early 18oos, with its elegant streets and crescents containing gardens.
Christmas and New Year (Hogmanay) in Edinburgh are full of lights and funfairs and entertainments, some needing tickets but many are free. It is a very popular destination at this time so early booking is recommended.

There is so much to see and do in and around this cosy home, conveniently situated, in our capital city that a week is really not long enough! We hope you have a wonderful stay.
