Stayed with two teenagers & found it ideal as they had their own rooms. Bus stop over the road that takes you into city centre, asda & a Brewers fayre pub real close by too.

"Fantastic and helpful staff"
The hotel was great, food lovely and staff could not have been more helpful when I had a flat tyre. Two members of staff even changed the tyre for me in the pouring rain.

"Return visit to an old favourite!"
30 years on this hotel still remains a firm favourite. Superbly situated beside the sea, giving access to miles of beautiful sandy beaches & coves, it is a wonderful base for coastal walking.Upon return, or in poor weather, the hotel spa is the best we have come across! There are so many varied experiences, the facility never appears crowded. The swimming pool is huge and we loved the indoor/outdoor hydro pool, equipped with an optional massage by hot waterfall. The staff are all friendly & helpful & the accommodation clean & comfortable. The food is delicious, but more thought needs to be given to the quantity of some of the main courses (my husband was given a helping of meat & four small carrots, insufficient for a hungry man, whereas I enjoyed venison steak, vegetable & mash). On our first night, the meal progressed smoothly, but on the Monday, (25th.Jan.) there were very long waits between courses. The waiters were hard-working & energetic, which left us wondering whether the kitchen was understaffed. But, all in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay & can't wait to go back.

"Great hotel, a short walk from the beach."
We had a lovely stay at the Nether Abbey. It was my wife's first trip to Scotland, and I had not visited for over 20 years. North Berwick is truly charming and we found a warm welcome wherever we went. The hotel was perfect in every way, very clean and tidy, as were the rooms, which were comfortable and airy. The staff, without exception, were fantastic, friendly without being over-familiar - a VERY fine line... They are all a credit to the Management, and if they are reading this review, "thanks, guys!" There was a varied and interesting menu, and the dishes were of an extremely high quality, both in ingredients and execution. It is cliche to say that the best steak comes from Scotland, but in this case it happens to be true - meat lovers would love the Rib-Eye with Whisky and Mustard sauce (unashamed foodie here, as you can tell). My wife and I have stayed in hotels all over the world, and this establishment could easily rank with any of those. We had a fantastic time and would recommend the Nether Abbey WITHOUT hesitation. I hope that we can go back one day.

"Small hotel located in lovely little town."
Booked a one night stay as we were attending wedding nearby. Very confusing way into hotel through its cafe. Never did find reception just a small cupboard like messy office. Interior signs were quite confusing. Staff were friendly, though we were annoyed to have them chapping on our door at 8.50am wanting in to clean room. Breakfast was served in the cafe and for the cost of the room for a night was a bit tacky. Room itself was spotless and comfortable. No plug near the only mirror was a pain if you wanted to use a hairdyer. Nice enough hotel but overpriced when you had to wander all over hotel trying to find someone to check you in and when you see where breakfast was served.

"Perfect escape from the city"
Although it's difficult to get there by public transport if youre going to Scotland for the first time, it is so secluded and pretty you won't mind. I went in January when it was slightly frosty and the didn't take away from the beauty of the location. Getting to Edinburgh from the hotel is also easy. The hotel itself has very comfortable beds I stayed in one of the upstairs rooms. The staff are really helpful and allowed me to check in early. The restaurant is also lovely, with really great fresh food. Definitely stay there if you want a relaxing break hidden away against fields.

"Great apartment and location"
Staff at location are fantastic, helpful and always on call if you require anything. The apartment is stunning and full of all the mod cons you could ever require. The finish in the apartment is of the highest order, comfy bed, great bath and lovely furniture throughout. The private cinema in the owners residence was great for returning to after a night out, as is the garden. The hotel has a vast dvd library available in reception. Molton Brown toiletries shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, mouth wash etc as well as practical things like cotton buds, cotton wool, hairdryer and in room safe.

    Adventurous Activities in Edinburgh

While it’s unlikely you will be abseiling down Edinburgh Castle anytime soon, Edinburgh has a vibrant climbing community. There are impressive indoor climbing centers in Granton and Ratho - the latter is the largest indoor climbing wall in the world! The Edinburgh International Climbing Arena also boasts Europe’s largest suspended aerial adventure rope course.

No trip to Edinburgh would be complete without a game of paintball. OK that’s not true, but it’s there if you want it. Head to the indoor centre on Leith Walk or the outdoor area just outside the city in South Queensferry for some colourful simulated combat.

The city is also within easy reach of the Pentland Hills, making it a great place for hikers and runners to base themselves. Hillend Dry Ski Slope is a handy place for skiers.
