Great stay here from the weekend nothing to fault! Rooms were spotless, modern and the welcome from the lady were fabulous. Short walk nearby to everything from the castle to great breakfast spots. Will definitely be back in the future. Thankyou

Family city break
Good breakfast. Lovely room. Close enough to walk to main attractions if you didn’t want to pay for public transport. Was able to leave luggage and even allowed to keep hold of the key to let ourselves in later that afternoon to collect bags, even though we had checked out. Would stay again.

An ok stay
The guest house is in a good central location, yet on a nice quiet street. I received a nice welcome on my arrival. The room was ok, but A little more care could have been taken in cleaning as there were stray hairs in the bed and couple of bits of rubbish from a previous guest under the bed. A little overpriced for the quality of accommodation, but then this time of year in Edinburgh...most places are!

Ms. Bell is a wonder. She does whatever she can to make you feel at home. The parking in the area is horrid so do not drive a car into Edinburgh. We drove in and since we could not find parking anywhere Ms. Bell was incredible in allowing us to park in her space. Their system of providing yo a hot breakfast in the morning was wonderful. Unfortunately, the weather was warmer and more humid than normal so the room was a bit stifling. And leaving the windows cracked led to noise during the night as the shade banged.

Lovely guest house central location
Stayed for 3 nights in this lovely warm and cosy guest house in a single room. Room was recently redecorated, small yet bright with a great little functional ensuite. Breakfast was very good with a number of different choices. We even had a Easter Egg gift at breakfast on Easter Sunday. Located a couple of blocks from a Main Street with shops and bars/restaurants yet the guest house was incredibly quiet and peaceful. Staff were very pleasant and non-imposing. Would certainly recommend this guest house.

Nice little cozy place
My friend and I stayed at the Amaryllis for 3 nights. The room was really big and clean, breakfast was delicious, staff friendly and helpful. Only little complaints would be that the mattresses were not the comfiest and the window was a bit drafty, but not such a big deal. Would definitely recommend.

The proprietors were lovely, breakfast was excellent (and filling!), the rooms were nice and cozy, and the hotel was located on a few minutes walk from where I needed to be. It's a bit of a hike to get here from the airport, but once there, it's quite easy to get out and into the city. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Decent guest house. Pros - walkable to city centre, murrayfield or for restaurants and bars, room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast food options were good. Cons - breakfast operated within 45 min window only from 8.30-9.15 which isn't ideal for a weekend lie in. Electric shower in room intermittent with regards to decent pressure and hot water.

Great guest house 20 min walk from the Castle.
Super friendly staff, excellent breakfast! We had to leave before breakfast on our last day, so they packed us a great lunch! Very comfy bed. Shower was a finicky electric thing unlike anything I have ever seen, and I needed help to get it working properly. Would stay there again.

Great B&B
This was a great B & B and location. Our room was very large and comfortable. Our hostess went above and beyond. We were not able to make it to breakfast as we were leaving early to go to the British Open. She offered to leave a lunch when we left very early. She supplied us with sandwiches, chips, apples and cookie. This pretty much saved us as to the length of time it took by train. We were starving and this filled us till way into the day when we got our favorite Fish and Chips at the Open. I would recommend this place 100%. Our second morning we chose from 6 different breakfast cooked to order. This is a gem of a place. Just a note, bring your own shampoo.

Plesent place to stay.
It was a great stay at nice B&B. A wonderful lady took care of us and watched out for us like we were her extended family. The only issue with the room was the shower didn't have very good pressure. Otherwise it was a great stay.

The picture of the Hotel encouraged us to choose it but when we arrived the overpowering smell of cigarette smoke was not nice! This was in our room too.As non smokers it was not appreciated.

Not worth the money!
A rather shabby B&B with a minute bathroom, no water pressure in the shower. A very small PC monitor is used as the TV. Stuck in a loft room felt claustrophobic, I would check to see if this room was being allocated to you before confirming booking as it certainly isn't value for money. Breakfast was fine although crammed tables in a small space made it uncomfortable.

We were looking for somewhere affordable nearish the University and town, this was very suitable and one of the nicer b&b rooms I have stayed in (we had the double with ensuite shower). Welcoming hosts and good breakfasts.

Lovely staff, very willing to help. Decent breakfast; not a huge amount of food, but enough. Kind of an early checkout time - 10 am. Nice location, not to far from the old town and tourist sites. 15 to 20 minute walk. Room was fine; nothing fancy, but comfortable and clean. Would stay again.

Friendly & welcoming hosts, very helpful in many ways. Room is cosy & basic which is all we needed. About 15 min walk to town, 2 min walk to a great little pub.

Lovely little place
The guest house is a real gem. It's located in a quiet suburb approx 15 mins walk from Princes Street. I was staying in Edinburgh for the marathon but I'll bring the family next time. The landlady was polite, friendly and efficient. Breakfast was 10/10. Thank you.

This guest house was a bit difficult to find, but once you get used to the direction, it's okay to commute on foot. The host was very kind, and she tried to help as much as she could. The breakfast was very good and room was clean. It was a bit cold during the nights, and the water pressure of a toilet was too weak. The in-suit bathroom was unsatisfactory in general. But great service and hearty breakfast cover them perfectly, so I would rate up to 4 or 4.5

Great location!
We stayed here as we were attending Hogmanay and also we wanted to see Edinburgh. This is a great please to see Edinburgh - we walked in every day - sometimes twice a day - in winter and we loved it. The hosts were friendly and helpful and the room clean and warm.

Stunning, affordable and amazing facilities
For a short stay and with so much to do around Edinburgh, there could not be a better place for the price I paid. It is in a very quiet neighbourhood, within walking distance from the city centre, old town and all the main attractions.The room was really clean and comfortable with more room than I needed. I was expecting a single tiny bed but had a massive one. The bathroom was really clean. Staff were really friendly and attentive. The lady who cooked my breakfast both days was really friendly and hospitable. If I have to go up there for a short or long stay, I will look out for this same guest house again. It was just great.

Contrary to the reviews I read earlier about this place, I was not that impressed. The room was cold, the shower had little pressure and the toilet was difficult to flush. Breakfast was good, and it's not too far from the old town and Edinburgh castle (although it was definitely farther than I thought it would be). I was expecting a bit more home-like feeling from this place, but it was no different than a hotel with conditions not being that great. Won't stay here again next time I am in Edinburgh.

The Amaryllis House was a great place to stay. A short walk to High Street/Royal Mile. Quiet neighborhood for rest. The service was wonderful. Clean room everyday, wonderful breakfast, and very accommodating for sight seeing suggestions and assistance with planning outings. We would definitely stay here again.

Great location, great breakfast
I recommend this bed and breakfast. The rooms are nice, with big windows. It's a 10 minute walk to Edinburgh Castle and many central destinations. It's very easy to get to from the airport -- just take the 35 bus. The breakfasts are tasty, and you can choose from a small menu the day before. The owners are friendly.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights while on vacation. The house is a charming old little B&B walking distance to most of Edinburghs top attractions. We stayed in room 4 which had a double bed and a twin. It was roomy enough and had a nice view. The bed was very comfortable and the room was an ideal temperature for us. We didnt meed to turn the furnace on at all. The breakfast served each day was good. You had a choice between about 5 different things which was nice. Cathy, the owner, is very nice and gave us a great great recommendation for a wonderful nearby pub to eat at. The only negative part for me was that you could smell smoke when u came and went from the front lobby entrance.

Great B&B for a couple or a family
This is a nice B&B within walking distance to the old part of the city with a number of good ethnic restaurants nearby. They provide a choice of breakfasts which was nice and the staff were very pleasant and helpful but not too chatty.

Sehr schönes Gästehaus
Der Empfang war herzlich, das Gästehaus war klein und fein. Von dort aus konnte man zu Fuß sehr gut in die Innenstadt kommen. Mir hat es insgesamt sehr gut gefallen. Und ich würde es wieder buchen.
