Great stay as usual in Apex, very central location and beautiful view of the castle. Fabulous breakfast, room very comfortable and clean. For anyone booking please be aware that booking the castle view room, you are also booking a room on very busy street, with traffic and restaurants/pubs that open until late. Didn't bother us at all, we knew what we were signing up for, but some people may find it quite noisy. Also, no air con so the window / balcony needed to stay open, which added to the noise. Nothing like being woken up by bagpipes tho!

We had a wonderful 3 night stay in May , the hotel was a little hard to find at first , but everything else was fantastic, the location at Grassmarket is hard to beat and the view from our castle view room was outstanding . All in all a very pleasant stay , would go back again happily

Location was great and the stay was really friendly. The beds are horrible, it felt like we were sleeping on plywood and could feel every spring. The floors creaked so much. The bathtub/shower is risk manager nightmare. You have to step 12” up to climb in with no safety rail to hold onto. The glass shower panel is useless as it did not stop the water. You’ll need an extra towel to mop up the flood from a 5 min shower.
