Nice hotel
Lovely hotel , nice friendly staff, nice breakfast choice and nice, clean room. Nice hotel cat too! Only thing I would say is the hotel is not great for people with accessibility difficulties due to the amount of stairs and no lift.

Wonderful place.
My wife and I have stayed here before and we love it. It’s far enough from the city centre where it’s quiet but close enough so that it’s a twenty minute bus ride into the city. The staff are absolutely lovely and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Absolutely would stay here again.

The building and space was as advertised. Service was slow and unable to serve cocktails in the advertised bar in the hotel. I stayed two nights and this hotel was transitioning from being owned by Best Western to privately owned during my stay which may have contributed to the limited service ability.

2 night twin room stay
Had a twin room with a view, room & bathroom very spacious & clean. Lovely breakfast lots of choice, dinner was excellent. Great location for bus into city, would stay again.

The beds are comfortable and the rooms are laid out well. I stayed in two rooms for two separate stays and both were amazing. Jake at the front desk was fun and friendly. The only downside about my stay was the breakfast, as there were no decent options for vegetarians.

The building is a lovely Victorian era edifice, that has been carefully modernized while retaining the original charm. Check in was smooth, and the staff were very supportive when working to manage some technology challenges. The food was excellent. We very much enjoyed our stay, and will keep this business at the top of our list when returning to Edinburgh.

I was very disappointed. While the building is dated, that's no excuse for the overall state of the room. From torn wallpaper, a dirty bathroom ceiling, stains on the carpet, and a lingering mildue smell. I read other reviews where people mentioned the coffee maker, so I decided to look inside before making a coffee. And like others, it was not in good condition. I did notice a service sticker that was last dated 2017 with the next to be in 2018. It's 2023. One set of stairs in the hall were patched with duct tape. For the high cost I paid it was not at all worth it. Location from the city center is 20min by car or an hour walk. It is not ideal if you plan on spending a lot of time going back and forth. While I had limited interaction with the staff. I would say it was poor. You're not really made to feel welcome, and upon checkout, I wasn't even asked how my stay was. A typical service question in the hotel industry.

Showed up for reservation around 7:30pm after traveling all day to find the property did not have power. Decided to head to local restaurant for dessert to give time for power to come back on before checking in. After we finished, property still did not have power so found another hotel. Contacted expedia and explained situation. They escalated the issue but Best Western notified Expedia saying they were not going to refund us for our room. Very disappointing.

The building is a beautiful older property with lots of character. Unfortunately there is no elevator, which made carting the luggage up to the third floor a little challenging. Our room was spacious, and the service was excellent.

It’s beautiful, with a beautiful view of hills. Unique rooms in old-school architecture. Bathroom sink was tiny to fit, but the shower was sizeable and modern. I walked into the city center, which was a healthy hoof, but the hotel is right on the 11 bus route…super convenient.

The room gave to us was very small with window to back storage which could not even fully open it ( could open 10cm) hence the room was hot and damp. There was a huge difference between images of the rooms in hotel with what they gave us to stay in.

We liked the fact that it was close to a bus stop for downtown. We did not like that there was no plug access in the bathroom for drying one’s hair. That was the only mirror in the unit and I could not dry my hair or style it in front of a mirror.

Nice relaxing place 30 minutes bus ride from city centre. Beautiful park neighborhood next door. No pubs, restaurants or stores around. Need to take bus or car.

It’s a beautiful hotel with two bus options to get you into town in 15-20mins. Unfortunately, like most of Scotland, do not expect respect, politeness and welcoming from staff (except for 1 lovely human I met!).

Nice to stay out of town
We stay here because we can avoid driving into Edinburgh. The bus stop is right outside the hotel and takes us into Princess St. The room was clean and spacious with a great view over the city

The mattress was worn out and very lumpy. The chairs in the restaurant need addressed as to the cushion system has broken down and coverings are cracked and pealing. The personnel working there were great and very helpful in our 4 night stay.

Braid Hills hotel is very well sited in a pleasant Edinburgh suburb. Buses to the centre run frequently from a stop a few steps away. There is ample free parking.The bed was comfortable and we had a lovely view of the city. We enjoyed the evening meals we had in the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is on a hill and there is no lift so those with mobility problems might find it unsuitable

Thank You to Jack at reception (well presented young guy well spoken) very cheerful and friendly. Beautiful Leanne hosting the biggest smile and hospitality, Rekha ( good luck with your pregnancy), Raj, Wing, and the other staff whose names escape me, and compliments to the chefs just a great team of people representing a great place to stay in Edinburgh... the 3* doesnt matter to me, you will be 5* in my books. You all made my stay so enjoyable. I recommend to whomsoever is wanting to sleep well, dine well be close to city ... well here you go. Braids Hill Hotel ticks all the boxes.
