The hotel does not considers ramps for luggage. Keep in mind that if you carry heavy luggage you will have to lift them yourself, since also, there is no one in the entrance to help. The hotel does count with an elevator but depending on your room number there can be stairs too to get to it. Again, without ramps!!

I had asked for a room with an accessible bathroom as I am a below knee amputee. The hotel e-mailed to acknowledge this request on 12/04/24 but on arrival this had not been actioned. Whilst the shower in my room was a 'walk in' unit this was ok to get in but the absence of grab rails made my shower a very unsafe situation. At breakfast the menu offered vegetarian sausages but these were not available, only vegetarian haggis.

Everything was great for the 8-9 days we stayed, only issue is cold water didn’t work in shower and we either got hot or extremely hot water, and after walking 10-12 miles shopping relaxing with a nice shower or bath would have been great. But we didn’t want to complain

I have stayed at the property several times over the years. The hotel is very central to the centre of Edinburgh. The breakfast is also lovely and sets you up for a great day of sightseeing.

The hotel was well located and we were allowed to check in early which was fantastic as we had travelled up on the sleeper. The room was very clean and the breakfast was great. On the Saturday night there was a function that we could hear slightly but fortunately it stopped quite early. I was happy that we were far enough away as I hear some guests the following morning complain as they were right above it and couldn't hear their TV over the music.

Hotel was lovely, rooms are currently undergoing renovations. Stay in a renovated room - they are beautiful. Rooms to be renovated are old and show their age. Our bathroom floor was dirty upon arrival. Housekeeping staff had already left for the day, so the manager cleaned the bath for us. We joked that we had the best dressed housekeeper of all time.

I thoroughly enjoyed the green area for walking around and the restaurants. Had to eat out on the Two nights I stayed as there was no dining service on a Monday and Tuesday, was recommended the Montpelier - food superb, lovely friendly service. Check in staff very friendly and helpful. When I returned to my room at 4pm, the noise from the workmen outside with an angle grinder for a good hour was grating as the room has no secondary glazing. But once they had gone, it was very quiet.

Staff was really helpful but the hotel is more like a 2.5 star hotel than 4 also the room advertised in the picture was quite photo touched and quite not the same.

Good hotel but with shortcomings
A good hotel but needs to sort out leaky shower difficult to use toilet flush buttons. Not air conditioned, provided a noisy fan without a control knob. If your room is not near the lift then navigating steps with luggage is cumbersome.

Perfect location right beside the meadows. Tons of great restaurants and cafes about 2 minutes walk. Also right on the bus lines to go downtown. Staff was extremely welcoming and kind for the entire stay. Very very highly recommend staying here.

Positives: Room was clean and spacious. Plenty of parking available and conveniently located for the city. Negatives: Water pressure in our bathroom was very poor and on two occasions the toilet flush did not work, presumably as a result of this. Hotel will not accept cash, and as such we found it more difficult than we should have at the bar and to settle for our room bill. It should be made more clear on booking that they are a cashless hotel.

Despite a good breakfast and friendly staff, the hotel was a severe disappointment. Some issues during my six day stay: - my room was not fully cleaned one day (unwashed cups and glasses, dirty towels in the bathroom), on another day my room door was left wide open when I returned in the evening. - exorbitant charges for laundry - two shirts for which I paid seven pounds each were not ironed. - excessive parking charges - 12 pounds per day. - WiFi that was intermittent and had to be logged into repeatedly during the day - hard to make phone calls from within the hotel. - Bottles of water charged for the room after a “complimentary” first day - this on top of exceptionally high room rate of close to 400 pounds per night. Overall, not a good experience, despite the hotel’s good location in relation to Edinburgh sights, theatres, etc. Management should work to resolve the issues noted above.

Bed is too soft. No phone in room. Intermittent WiFi. Poor ergonomics: no luggage rack, toilet paper behind the toilet- should be in front of toilet. Toilet paper falls on the floor. Shower soap bottles fall out of soap holder continuously. Eco friendly is good. Staff is nice. WiFi program has white type on light grey background so impossible to read terms of agreement and very difficult to find the ‘I agree’ button. Should have black type to be able to read. Good location, fan available. Thank you.
