Like coming back to a comfortable pair of slippers

From when you first walk into the warm, welcoming foyer you feel at home. The staff are friendly and helpful, the room cosy (if old-fashioned) the food tasty and the overall ambience consistent with its history as the one-time home of an antartic explorer. The breakfast, including particularly the kippers and poached eggs, are complimented by buckets of rich columbian coffee, and no reasonable requests, including lemons for an ailing partner, are too much for the competent and enthusiastic staff. The restaurant has the feeling of a quality'local', which it is, and it is nice to find a cosy niche and just watch proceedings. It was a nice place to come back to after a 'full-on' trip around Scotland.
