Arrived on rainy day with car loaded with luggage. Samantha (Sam) the receptionist greeted us with a smile and immediately organised valet parking and for luggage to be sent to our room. Sam showed us our room then organised a booking in the Hotel restaurant for later in the evening. Entering to the Hotels wonderful Epicurian cocktail bar we were greeted warmly by a friendly Spanish waitress who recommended gin cocktails and organised a snack from the tapas menu.
Our table in Cocina, the Hotel Restaurant, was booked for 9PM. Once in the restaurant we were initially underwhelmed, mainly due to the large space which seemed more canteen than upmarket restaurant. However, the greeting we received from the staff more than made up for any initial disappointment in the venue. We ordered a bottle of Amorone after browsing the wine list sipping on a complimentary glass of Prosecco. The meal was delicious and as very nice touch, apparently due to the expensive(ish) bottle of wine we were drinking we received a complimentary cheese plate to finish off the wine. An all round excelllent night away from start to finish - thanks to the staff, especially Sam and her Spanish colleagues; G V provides service to rival any 5 star establishmen anywhere in Europe. well done, we will be back soon.
