Excellent hotel and service

Posted Mar 18, 2017
We loved the hotel and all staff from bellman to front desk to room service were commendable. We were able to walk everywhere, close to attractions, restaurants and shopping!

Great location, outstanding service

Posted Mar 9, 2017
Pros: Location and staff
Cons: Not a thing!
This hotel is perfectly located just around the corner from the Royal Mile. The room was clean and comfortable, but the staff and the service were outstanding. Everyone was so friendly and helpful! We even squeezed in a quick massage before it was time to check out. The spa is tiny but very nice.

Excellent new management

Posted Mar 5, 2017
Don't ever write reviews but feel compelled to after staying again at G&V after a gap of several months. The staff were amazing and made our stay in this beautiful hotel even better than before, and I was not at all surprised to find later there was new management in place. So congrats and a loss for Tiger Lily which now needs to up its game. Only criticism was the hot breakfast was a big mean in terms of quantity.

Location: Amazing location - everything you'd want to do in a long weekend in Edinburgh is within walking distance.
Absolutely amazing views from the room and the staff couldn't have been friendlier (a special thank you to Campbell and Gio for such great cocktails and Edinburgh advice). Our room was definitely one to remember - few others will ever be able to top it.

G&V - Great Hotel !

Posted Mar 4, 2017
Great location, staff were super hospitable, the room was so comfortable and I was so grateful for some REAL milk. Lovely coffee machine and luxury tea. Everything you need away from home minus the toothpaste. The food was a bit pricey but I never ate here much anyway. Will definitely stay here again - one of the nicest retreats I have had.

Luxury and Comfort in Old Town Edinburgh!

Posted Mar 2, 2017
Pros: Location! The staff was professional and always there to help. The hotel is very modern, but somehow did not seem out of place in Old Town Edinburgh.
Cons: Their margaritas, but then who goes to Scotland for the Margaritas?? They tasted like pure tequila with a splash of lemon. The bar was amazing otherwis
Location: The location was perfect ! Right in the heart of Old Town, but an easy walk to Princes Street and New Town.Walked to the castle nightly to see sunset!
This was my 4th stay in Edinburgh ,but the first time at this hotel. Even though I opted for a "room without a view" the view out my window was amazing: there was a very old, beautiful county building , the top of St. Giles and part of the Royal Mile. Every morning I could hear the sound of distant bagpipes...I loved it! The room was very comfortable. Ports by the bed, at least 4 for our phones and devices. Free WIFI through out the hotel that actually worked. I had a little trouble with the espresso machine in my room at first, but they came right up and gave me a tutorial! Coffee Pods, milk and water in the minibar were free of extra charge. The hairdryer plugged outside the bathroom ,but the cord was long enough to reach inside. There were many mirrors so the usual ordeal of styling my hair in a hotel was a breeze. Room service was quick and delicious. Housekeeping was very accommodating and usually serviced my room in the afternoon. There was a very nice, immaculate spa where I had two wonderful massages. The staff at the spa were very sweet and professional. The fitness center had 4 cardio machines, a stair stepper, an elliptical, a bike and a tread mill, some free weights and a stretching area. There were also cold bottles of water , towels and fresh fruit available. The restaurant was delicious. Good Breakfast buffet with delicious bread and fresh honey comb from their beehives on the roof. Afternoon tea was amazing! The Bar was very stylish!

Nice hotel, perfect location

Posted Feb 28, 2017
Everything was great except that I did not get any VIP+ benefits (and I'm a Expedia gold member). I was not informed that's my breakfast was not included at the restaurant and received an invoice for 82 pounds at the end of my stay. Everything else was perfect.

Last minute weekend getaway

Posted Feb 24, 2017
Pros: everything
Cons: more food availability in the bar after hours
Location: In the city centre, next door to the Palace and most tourist hotspots, as well as great restaurants.
I had a great opportunity to use my expedia points to book this hotel for a great price quite last minute. The hotel lived up to its expectations of being comfortable, exquisite and convenient. The great customer service actually began before the trip even started, with the management happily and easily acquiring me a theatre ticket at the last minute to an otherwise sold out show. Check in was a breeze and I was pleasantly surprised at the essentials in the room. Walking distance from Waverly train station, this was a no brainer. It is situated in the HEART of the city, streets away from everything you will need and want to be a part of. The food is great, especially Epicurean that highlights its amazing gin selections. I managed to get a massage in at the spa which I would highly recommend for the weary traveller. A perfect little weekend.
