Nice restful place to stay

The staff were very welcoming from the front desk to the breakfast service in the morning. Everyone actually looked happy to help you which makes the experience so much better. We needed a taxi into the city centre and the front desk staff arranged this very quickly. We would definitely stay again and recommend it as a place to stay to friends.

Nice hotel for visiting Edinburgh

We have stayed at this Holiday Inn several times and think it’s great hotel for a small family. Staff are courteous and helpful. Rooms are a good size and beds are comfortable. We got a top floor room with a nice view of Edinburgh. The only reason we didn’t rank the staff more highly is because we had a poor experience when we ate at the restaurant for dinner. While the wait staff at the restaurant were very nice and friendly, the restaurant service was inefficient and a few problems came up. Even through the restaurant wasn’t busy, they got some of our instructions and one of our orders wrong, managed to misplace the bill (which led to some delay when trying to charge ththe bill to our room), and also weren’t as attentive as they could have been when clearing the table and providing service. May be they were having an off day, but the multiple fails was a bit concerning!

friendly staff

The room was clean and comfortable but the furniture could do with a little upgrading. All the staff were friendly and polite and food at both breakfast and in the restaurant was good. It's good to see that personal service has not left all Edinburgh hotels.

Excellent customer service

Pros: Facilities, friendly staff and helpful approach
Cons: The room was a little tired and, could do with a refurbishment in the coming months
This hotel is placed in a pleasant area close to main arterial routes with high value residential properties around. All staff were very friendly and had a very positive approach to customer service. They made me very welcome and, accommodated my requirements - I was delivering a presentation and staying on site.

Lovely hotel with great staff

Cons: Nothing
Second time to this hotel love the location , leave car in car park and use the buses ( which are just across the road) to centre of Edinburgh only takes 10 mins . The staff are so pleasant and helpful, llove the bar area and restuarant , we had a evening meal there which was lovely , and the breakfasts were the best. We will be using this hotel every time we stay in Edinburgh again.

The bathroom smelt like mold and mildew. The tiles in the shower needed some cleaning as well, because there was red in the grout lines. We had 3 people staying in the room and it was pretty cramped and small. I also didn't like the fact that there was no air in the rooms, so we had to open up the windows to sleep. I know this is customary for that location because it is normally cool weather, but there should be the option. The restaurant food was good, but the staff were not attentive as they should have been. For this being a national chain hotel, I expected more.
