Still the best boutique hotel in Edinburgh!
Posted Oct 9, 2016
I am a regular visitor to the hotel but haven't posted a review for several years. I recently spent a night here, as I stopped overnight in Edinburgh whilst travelling in Scotland on business, and this time, I travelled there by car.
It is still is the best hotel of its kind in Edinburgh. Rooms are well furnished and spotless, breakfast is included and is great. There is parking right outside the hotel, free from 6pm-8am (download the RinGo app for maximum efficiency, but the traditional ticket and phone payments are also available).
Some of the single rooms can sometimes be a little small, but usually perfectly formed. So call the hotel in advance to find out first if you are the sort of person who requires lots of elbow room, or just avoid the singles.
It's a short (<10 min) walk to Princes street and all the shops and bars, with some very nice places along the way.
I've not tried the restaurant outside of the Breakfast, but if the same standard is maintained, then I would expect it to be very high. My only suggestion would be that a discrete bar would be a great addition.

Thanks for your great feedback, based on your experience. Our bar is adjacent to the restaurant, you have to come back in the evening and experience the bar and our Blackwood's Bar & Grill. We have been called the best steak restaurant is Edinburgh. We certainly look forward to welcoming you back. Chris and the Nira Caledonia Team.
