Old hotel in good locationPosted Jul 21, 2017
This is an old hotel but great location. Across from Sir Walter Scott Monument. Walking distance to Royal Mile, shopping and restaurants. Includes breakfast. Hotel staff at front desk could be friendlier and more helpful. Shuttle to airport across the street. Elevator slow and faster to take stairs

Lovely hotel, nicely furnished comfy beds .nice bedding .all rooms have iron) board, trouser press, hair dryer, tea/coffee. Only negative was road noise but given the excellent location that's to be expected. I used ear plugs

Nice hotel perfect licationPosted Jul 17, 2017
Our room was onthe 6th floor, it was very comfortable. A good view of the gardens and the castle. Perfect location for what we had planned Breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice and excellent service. The only thing stopping me awarding a full 5stars is the shower.... it had very poor pressure. It was adequate! On the whole I would strongly recommend 🙂

Great location, disappointing stayPosted Jul 13, 2017
Good things first. The front desk staff was excellent. Very friendly. Efficient. The bathroom in my room was great. Clean and remodeled. But- my room had a window that overlooked a wall, and some equipment and cigarette butts. There was no light. None. I didn't complain when I first got there because I was so tired. The next day I spent most of the day walking around, but was profoundly disappointed to spend the evening in a dark room. Plus I was afraid to open the window to get some air for fear critters might live in that dark space. I left after two nights for a new hotel where I was blessed with a real window was surprised to learn it was light until late in the evening and dawn came early. Two bad I missed out on that the first two days. Secondly, the lounge is very nice but both my visits were spent rustling up my own drinks because no one would wait on me. I did overhear a lot of personal info which was interesting. Too bad I spent much of my time there with an empty glass. Overall- beautiful old hotel, great front staff, bath wonderful- room disappointing and some service issues in lounge.

Nice hotel in a very central location.Posted Jul 7, 2017
Very central hotel with easy access from the train station. Quick walk to all of the main sights. We stayed in a very large triple room - had everything that we might need. Nice bathroom and shower. The noise from the alley below was very loud in the morning despite being on the 5th floor. The breakfast was not worth the cost. The staff was extremely helpful and polite.

Great LocationPosted Jul 7, 2017
Pros: Location location location
Cons: Small room no air conditioning which is an issue even in the Highlands. No one suggested the hike up a floor to get to reservations. Travel light.
Location: everything is within walking distance. Edinburgh castle can be scene from the entrance, bars and pubs and food everywhere of all types
Great location for a short stop. Central to the the heart of Edinburgh. Walk to the train station in 2 mins, over to the Royal mile in 4. Next to the Scott monument and on Prince street next to the park. Great bar area to watch people from the second floor.

Would recommend Old Waverly HotelPosted Jul 6, 2017
Dining area wait staff very friendly, decent food. A woman with short dark hair as part of dining staff was very friendly, nice, and always had a smile! (I wish I knew her name!) Blonde lady at desk not very friendly although others were. Hotel is older, however it was kept very clean.

Nice hotel - would stay there againPosted Jul 6, 2017
Cons: Accessibility. Lots of stairs to get there.
The hotel was within walking distance of the places we wanted to go. We used public transportation, which was right there as well. The tour group we were using was just down the street.
