A very good hotel that could be excellentPosted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: large room, fine ambience.
Cons: See above.
Location: Rose street, which runs parallel to George Street one block over, has some fine little restaurants.
Tigerlily is beautifully locatedon George Street near Charlotte Square, the heart of classical Edinburgh. Our room was well furnished. commodious, and had a fine view. Staff was friendly, breakfasts excellent (though rather expensive). We did have some minor problems. Finding that our room's safe deposit box didn't work, I spoke to the concierge, who said it couldn't be fixed during our one-week stay. (The manager moved us to an identical room next door.) We came back around 4 PM one afternoon to find our room hadn't been done. Reception said it was because it was a Friday and a lot of people left on that day; they did send someone to make it up, On the morning we left, with a tight transportation schedule, there was literally no one serving in the breakfast room and we had to go to reception to get them to send someone. Tigerlilly is a very good hotel that could be excellent with a bit more attention to detail.

Trendy hotel in New TownPosted Jul 6, 2015
Pros: Fun and energetic
Cons: The cooling system in our room was difficult to adjust. The breakfast area was worn. Better sound proofing would be good.
Location: Located on George Street in New Town, there are restaurants & shops nearby. It's a long walk to Old Town.
Tigerlily is a fun, trendy hotel catering to young travelers. It's quite girlie with lots of pink, purple and flowers and a bar/restaurant with a fun cocktail list. I would recommend this to women looking for a girls' weekend and younger couples. The rooms have romantic fireplaces, are decorated with antiques and include amentities such as curling irons & straighteners. However, the bar gets quite loud in the evening which does filter up to the rooms and there is no real lobby area for travelers who need a quiet space outside the bar or restaurant. The view from our room left a lot to be desired -- our room looked over an abandoned office building that looks like it is ready to be torn down. The location is not as interesting to first time visitors to Edinburgh since the walk to Old Town is quite far.

Great hotelPosted Apr 20, 2015
Booked hotel as a last minute get away. Nice hotel in central location. Only down side was we were on the 1st floor and we found out that there is a night club underneath! Couldn't sleep with the noise, but staff dealt with the problem swiftly and were moved to another room, from which we heard nothing. Would recommend hotel but would always ask for a room above the 1st floor.

Cool elegancePosted Mar 14, 2015
Pros: The staff, the location, the bar and the room.
Cons: The barman at the front bar made me a gin and tonic with rosemary - just as requested. The next barman told me rosemary was out of season!
Location: Location is central and surrounded by great bars and restaurants.
I love this hotel. This is my third stay and I am always impressed firstly with the staff, and secondly by the cool elegance of this hotel. Tigerlily never feels like it's trying too hard.

Great Hotel! Great Location!Posted Mar 9, 2015
The hotel, location and staff were fantastic! I would recommend this highly to anyone who wants to visit Edinburgh. It is very central to everything. You are right in the main area of New Town and everything can be walked to within minutes including Old Town and the Royal Mile. The staff were brilliant and the hotel is very, very nice. The room was fantastic! Stay on the second floor or above though if you are not a partier. The music from the club in the hotel is fairly loud and you can hear it on the first floor. Otherwise....it was great!!

Great weekend getawayPosted Feb 17, 2015
We loved the hotel, modern but with a cosy feel. Our room was beautiful, comfy and clean and the staff were extremely helpful. Great location too. The food was a slight letdown but cocktails made up for it as they were amazing!
