keep your expectations lowPosted Oct 5, 2015
Pros: The staff were super friendly and tried to accommodate me when things weren't working but I think their hands were tied.
Cons: Ummm. Slap some plaster in the numerous holes; either invest in some heavy duty cleaner and clean the toilets, shower and grout or replace them all.
Location: Really close to the expo centre which was the whole reason I stayed. Didn't see much else that was there.
My stay started with the front desk guy getting into an argument with someone in the front lobby trying to go up to a guests room. The staff were very friendly but overall the hotel itself was a disappointment. The first room I was given had overloaded the fridge and both room lights and blown the plug. The second room I was given just hadn't blown the plug yet. The walls had holes in them still from removing the wall mounted headboards to put in the pull out sofa. The carpet looked questionable. The bed was okay, creaky but firm but the blanket was really lumpy. The bathroom was really dingy. The dirty looking tile and grout on the floor was accented by the questionable looking tub and iron stained toilet. The light flickered for a few minutes before turning on the whole way and the tap for the sink only gave about 40% of its water. The rest of the water sprayed out the side! The water pressure in the shower was phenomenal; no exfoliating required. The supplied hangers actually ended up snagging one of my sweaters. The community surrounding the hotel was definitely industrial. I would say getting to the hotel from the highway was easy, but there was so much construction in the city. There was a wooden box covering the radiator under the window which meant I couldn't access the heat to turn it down and the a/c unit that was wall mounted seemed to be forever on which was okay except the night when the temperature dropped.

Run down nasty hotel to match the nasty staffPosted Oct 5, 2015
We start here twice a year for the reptile expo. For the $129 a night (unless it's bumped up for random reasons during your stay) I expect much better. Broken beds poor condition of the room and if your lucky a shower head that you can fit under if you are taller then 4' are the norm here. The staff are annoy to deal with at best and down right rude most of the time. There are a few nice ladies who work in the bar and restaurant but that's about it. If you have any issues don't expect any help from the general manager. On two separate occasions we have seen her shouting at guests who are trying to resolve valid complaints.

Great Place!Posted Aug 8, 2015
With in walking distance of the rexall - like 10 mins. Rooms were very clean, beds and pillows were very comfortable. Good food in the lounge and decently priced all well. Lobby and elevator could use an upgrade but everything else was very welcoming.

Good staff, but sketchy hotel.Posted Jul 31, 2015
Cons: Overall cleanliness and state of the bedrooms.
Location: Nothing close by.
Super great staff, but overall just a unsatisfactory stay. The beds were clean but the rest of the room was pretty gross. Dirty drawers, carpet was tough and sticky. It was a decently low rate for the night me and my friend stayed, so we didn't have high expectations to begin with. Would not stay here again though because we just didn't feel that safe, the hotel manager told us to park in the front where the cameras were, and there was a sketchy bunch of guests staying in some of the other rooms. If you aren't looking for 5 star, and just looking for a decently cheap room - it's pretty much what you pay for.

very disappointedPosted Jul 24, 2015 on Hotels
The room was not clean ,could not take off our shoes because our feet stuck to the carpet, they did switch us rooms. We were still charged the same amount. And then they moved all our belonging without telling us to the previous room after they said it was cleaned and it was still not acceptable, really disappointed with the service and how things were handled. Would not recommend to anyone. Sorry

Not very impressed...Posted Jul 22, 2015
Pros: Comfortable bed
Cons: WIFI and general condition of the building
Bed was comfortable and room was quite clean but the hallways, lobby, etc is in need of some TLC. We stayed only 3 of our 4 night planned stay due to the WiFi...or should say lack thereof. We were told it was being worked on and then it was implied that perhaps we were doing something wrong, etc. We had no problems connecting at our previous motels nor at our son's home in Edmonton--just at the Sands. The service was worse than the worst dial-up of years ago.

DisappointedPosted Jun 13, 2015
Pros: Easy to get to. Lots of parking. Bed was good
Well, the only Chair for the desk had a most horrible stain, don't know how cleaning staff could miss, it is was huge! Had to use spare blanket to cover it so I could use desk to work. The TV was not working. House keeping needs to make sure TVs are on working channels had two remotes neither worked. Now I'm in my PJs and don't want someone in my room late at nite to resolve this problem so didn't call for help but did leave desk info on leaving in am, about both problems. hotel old and it shows. pricey for what you got.
