Passing Through Effingham, Mistakes Were Made
Posted Nov 15, 2016
Look, if you're looking at this review you're passing through Effingham on a road trip. you're thinking "maybe I should book this hotel on expedia.ca and then stay there." First up, don't. Look, it's a shabby old run down Days Inn with an old guy at the desk who mostly stands outside and chain smokes, because what else is he going to do? He's in Effingham for god's sake. But that's not the issue. The issue is that Day's Inn's system isn't set up for it to get bookings from expedia.ca in any good time, so you'll make your booking online, get to the hotel, what, half an hour later, and still have to wait an hour (if not more) for the old guy behind the desk to call head office, expedia, techincal support... all to get your booking into his system so he can check you in. And you'll probably consider paying for the room IN PERSON and taking up with expedia afterwards (I certainly did). I was exhausted, and staying up several hours waiting to check in did nothing for my mood. Neither did the crappy old run down room I got in the end make me feel any better.
Anyway, avoid Effingham anyway. The hotels are overpriced compared to towns before and after.
